I hate how Google change/remove all the useful things without a warning.. I do not like android 10 because of that. removing this notification, messing up tap to translate in Google translate....etc..

A bit annoying as even though in the settings you've set up the option to auto-update and notify, they are useless. I really enjoyed get notifications and when all my apps were automatically updated :( now I have to check everyday to see if there are any updates and depending on when I check them I may have to wait for a long time if there is a large amount of apps to be updated. Please revert back your changes Google.

Data is the new Oil/Gold.
Personalized ads for you is just 0.5% of what they do with the data.
None of these companies can be trusted. Not Apple, not Google.

Anonymous, 16 Jan 2020Lol their privacy policy vs how they operate are two comple... morei know the risks and vulnerabilities, but i trust google and apple to fix it the soonest time possible. the data they collect actually helps AI grow as well to eventually personalize it to your preferences. as of the moment, since ads are unavoidable anyway, at least the data google collected about me only serves me ads i will be interested in, and i am finding it unobstrusive and even helpful sometimes. i used to have my history turned off with our android and apple devices, and i also have previously taken measures of turning off tracking cookies from other companies, but i ended up getting annoyed by random ads showing in websites i go to or apps i use. in the future, AI services will be able to pull information about you to give you deeply personalized assistance, just like having your own butler. see, i am somebody insignificant and don't do alot of online purchases. if you simply are careful of what information you share then you have nothing to worry about. otherwise just stop using technology altogether because all technologies are heading into personalization of offerings, and tech companies cannot do that without gathering information about you. again, i would rather trust google and apple with my data than oems from countries that spies on its citizens to oppress and/or virtually incarecrate them.

> How do you feel about this change, should Google still give users control over notifications for app updates?
99% of users don't care their apps are being updated and prefer not to know it. A manual control would be nice to have though for the geeks among us.
Meanwhile I completely disabled automatic apps updates 5 years ago for several reasons: Firstly, I need to keep old versions of some apps. Secondly, I prefer to update some apps only when their new versions garner positive reviews indicating nothing has been broken. Thirdly, Android doesn't allow to roll back to previous versions of apps (at least there's no simple way - uninstalling an app, downloading an APK and sideloading it - aren't simple) and it means to be on a safe side you mustn't automatically update apps.

Had this issue since November indeed. I thought I did something wrong with my Notification Settings for the Play Store. I've been searching for re-enabling them but it was Google's plot all along. Oof.
