      Nice Job
I Firmly suggest you to include this as a part your future reviews and even do it for the phones you don't prepare a full review for them
but i have some minor suggestions

1- It seems that the amount of light isn't enough for this test , as it looks , it's far less than comparable to the direct sunlight

2- make a database for results of this test , so everyone could choose the phones themselves (2 or 3) and see the result
and even i suggest that make such database for your battery test , so it could be more usable for readers

      thank you

This is just a stupid test, beg my pardon, not stupid, just not executed well... change the angle of the phones/or light, give us some comparison charts, put all phones on maximum brightnes... presto

I believe higher is better when it comes to contrast ratio,I'm really facing a reading difficulty with Sony Xperia neo when using it under a direct sun light

Why didn't we bring Sony Xperia S to this chart?
For my observation, the Xperia S did give me a good result of looking when walking out side, under the sunlight such a tropical country - Viet nam...
Noted that SS I9000 was my previous smartphone, before XS.
              Thanks,

"Naturally, higher is better here and this is how the first batch we subjected to the test did."

What about automatic brightness? IMO, it should be on "automatic" or you should have two values, one on automatic and one on maximum.

The galaxy nexus has an anti reflective coat. It should be the best. How could you overlook a nexus?

This is one of the factors that I always want to know about my phone, and much like the battery test results you cannot find that out when buying the handset, only afterwards...

So yes, this is a very useful test and I think it should become a regular feature.

                            Thank you GSMArena !

why are the phones at an angle ????

in order to make this test ok, put the light at an angle and directly behind you and shoot the phone straight (as you would normally use it...)
if you look at the phone at an angle you will have to face loss of contrast and color because of angle of view (and some screens do better here than others) and don't forget that some screens use some kind of polarizer with only works at certain angles of view...

so to clarify, the Omina W has the best sunlight legibility? with a bit more explanation I would love to see this become a regular section as the screen on my old Samsung Omnia i900 was impossible to see when any light was shining on it directly
