to allow voting u should link email address or facebook id and user have to login first and then only he can vote. and only vote allowed with one id

Option 2 is best and flawless
Leave the current voting system intact and allow only logged-in users to vote

Option 3 is the best. I hate all these 2008 phones being on top of the lists. The only problem is that the fanboys will like the sh*t out of their favorite phones.

GSM Arena, I have been following your website from 2007 and you guys have grown up tremendously. I love the site.
I would support option 1 and clever filters like Captcha code/e-mail ID for accepting the votes. The discrepancy variance would be tolerable.

I suggest you should give points(8/10 etc) to phones you review.and remove this voting system,just keep the DAILY INTEREST section.thanks.

Before I read the post I was thinking about overhauling it to a five point system instead of ten and allow only registered users to vote (only once per phone, d'ooh), but the option #3 sounds very sensible, so I'd be pretty glad to see you implement #3.

Require logins, but open up the authentication system to OpenID providers such as Google, Yahoo! and MySpace. This doesn't stop abuse altogether, but it does restrict the amount of damage that can be done.

(1).Rating should be based on price range(Value for money) i.e Glaxy Y might have 8 rating in 9K to 10K range,Moto Razr might have rating 8 in 25K to 30K.
(2).Rating must have a minimum benchmark value given by you guys.i.e Moto RAZR rating can't be below 8 for given price range cauz if i am giving MOTO Razr rating 1,2,3 or 4,it's not justified.You guys make sure that your rating is backed by data's like processor,battery,camera,music etc.If someone giving rating below your benchmark,you can ask him/her why by may be a pop up asking we think this,why u think that?
(3).Should be a filter or may be a seprate rating table of each section(Hardware and OS) for Techie guys(Mobile App Developers).They will provide accurate information.
(4).You might show how much user have given a particular rating similer to Android market App's.May be a pie chart.Cauz if i am seeing MotoRazr rating below 7,it's unacceptable.

I believe number 2 is the best option. Everyone has Facebook account these days and logging in and voting shouldn't be a problem for many. I agree the vote count might be less, but at least it'll be AUTHENTIC!! The 3rd option according to me is completely ruled out because it'll merge the concepts of 'Phones by interest' and 'Phones by ratings'. We do need classifications like build quality, features etc because an Apple might be superior in build quality but lack in features as compared to a Samsung. I hope I've been able to express my point of view properly.

Only allow registered users to vote and keep a history, anyone with suspicious votes should be banned from voting for at least a month and have their previous votes deleted.

Hi Guys...
Implement the below set of Protocols..
Divide the Rating system into different criteria's. And give weightage to each system.
a) Peoples votes. (50% Weightage)
b) Review Rating. (40% Weightage)
c) Daily Interest (10% Weightage)
(You can decide to change the weightage and add new criteria as well. No of handsets sold in the market can also be used)
Now about category A.
Do not reset previous ratings now.
For new votes use facebook/G+/Gmail/Yahoo Logins. (Most people have accounts)
Let me give one example.
Consider a phone has 9.8 Rating to it purely based on user vote.
So 50% of 9.8 becomes 4.9.
Now the reviewer gives his rate. May be 8 on 10.
so 40% of that turns to be 3.2
And Daily interest is around 60% = 0.6
So final result = 4.9+3.2+.6 = 8.7
So a result of 8.7 will be much more accurate.
Will have three different factors which decide result.
And even Fanboys will get 50% chance to manipulate the results. Which i believe they deserve.

You can generate a unique id and send it to an email address to the voter who will use it to vote. Your system won't generate more than one unique id per email address per phone.
Of course people can create lots of email addresses... but it is quite a pain to go through that exercice. They can also create several accounts which is your option 2 but at least through the email address, you don't have to have an account to vote
In our company we do that through SMS which reduce the number of SMS sent to the only phone registered during the account creation

Scrap the voting system.
No one I know cares about it.
When I check out phones on GSMArena, I want to read reviews, specs and pictures... and make my OWN decision.
I don't care what people think about it.

i think second option is better because if i bought a phone i will not be able to warn the users that this phone sucks since there is no negative response in third option. i think second option is better than the other two option.

Go for option 3. That is definitely the best solution for this problem.
