Wow! I don't know. Hope you solve it to your satisfaction.

I've never really looked at votes - more at specs and reviews. I guess I'm not so interested in what others think...

I would like to see more follow up information on pros and cons. F.ex. (and this is just an example): My HTC DHD has had known proximity problems. But I would love a follow up somewhere (gsmarena?) telling which problems were software, which were hardware and which are solved. The follow up doesn't have to be about problems and doesn't have to be about ancient phones like a DHD. ;-)

      I don't know. I love your site!

I say option 3, because why would it matter? none of those votes are true for every phone so just start fresh with a new system.

I think the only option is to make users log in to vote.. Commenting and etc can still be done without log in..
And I don't agree with some comments that there should be multiple options.. If there are multiple options, one person would be able to vote lots of times if they have a facebook acc, yahoo acc, google acc, etc.. Restrict it to only Facebook or registered users or both.. As facebook is the most common..
Option 3 doesn't seem like it's gonna be any different. Fanboys can still obsessively vote for their favorite..

And can I just say fanboys who do this are stupid. Please go get a life and stop ruining the best mobile device website.

One thing that i can think you , if for an example a phone is rated at 8.3 by 10 users and the 11th user rates is pretty low, then dont include his votes at all.

and similarly if a phone which is normally rated 6 , suddenly its getting rated 9 , exclude those votes as well.

                  My solution:

                  - Force all users to sign up with GsmArena and get an ID (unique email is necessary when signing up)
                  - Allow a registered user to vote for any phone only ONE time a day (both limit the ID and IP)
                  - Only accept votes that is not very different from current score, for example: current vote score of design for XYZ phone is 8.3, a user votes 2 for design of this phone, then this vote should be rejected because it's obviously biased. The tolerance for determination of biased votes should be argued and set by mathematical formulas (GsmArena knows it best).
                  - Any user who is known for many biased votes, should be banned and all of him/her other votes be ignored and deleted from Database.

OK, it was my solution and I'm sure it will work!

BTW, I think if you only do this, problem solves easily:
                  - Ask a question from user who is voting: Are you a fanboy of Nokia or Samsung? If answer is YES, then don't accept the vote!
                  (Just KIDDING, not offensive) HaHaHa...

where can i vote for that lol
i think the whole voting system is pointless as it doesnt show why a person liked or disliked a phone and there are enough review sites if i want to see ratings. What would be worth thinking about is followup reviews to see how the phone performs after a period of time, say 3 months

And it won´t hurt a bit the site that you allow to log in with some other accounts and NOT ONLY FACEBOOK!
Like Google+, Windows live or a regular mail.

                        my suggestion:-
put the ratings of each phone in two categories like-

first category should include ratings given by the tech experts of gsmarena..(would take some hard work for them to give ratings to those phones that they have not reviewed!!)

second category should include ratings given by users(may be anonymous or thru facebook)

by having these two categories one can easily see the difference of the ratings by tech experts of gsmarena and the users..and of course it will help because a huge difference from the rating given by gsmarena's experts will mean some loyal costumers are just giving false voting to see their handset at the top!!....hope it may be useful...thanks!

Just use as reference the editors vote and allow readers to vote within a range of +1.5 and -1.5. So no iphone fanboy can give a zero to the galaxy s2 and vice versa. On the other hand noone will be able to give a 10 to the...i don't know...the nokia 3210???

9 & 10 are good. 8 & 9 are so so. 7 & 8 are bad. So votes below 6 can bee filtered. It is all math. If you have 1000 votes in 9 and 10 votes in 0 so your votes are not tru. But when you have 1000 votes in 9 and 10 votes in 7 so it is more near to real than first one. It is like a band pass filter system votes below 7 will be deleted. Because just one stone can be voted below 6. Also you can ask why voters choose their numbers. Are they comparing another brands or they jast see one brand in all world.

                              I think

                              +++ 30% Editors Choice
                              ++++ 40% Members Choice
+++ 30% Open poll (With Captcha)

                              All Combined in one Rating!!

Then let People vote all they want Again n Again -- with Captcha
(I mean even their effort deserves something) :D

I think you should change the voting system as instant.
But it does not mean that you should lose the old data , for example you could use a new system that takes new votes more seriously than the old ones . you could use different ways to make the voting more accurate , like imdb.com .

i think you shuld accept only thos votes, who came frome mobile phone.
In this case you are able to trace mobile model and there IMEI number.
Just filter real votes and your voting results going to Genune..!!!

You can't make it positive votes only because then phones that have been out for a long time will get better ratings due to the fact they have been out for longer, or perhaps a phone that doesn't sell that well wouldn't get a very good rating, despite it potentially being a good phone.
It will have to a be tweak to the current system for it to work. Find a way to eliminate the fanboy voting.

i agree with some user here if u will use option 2 or leave it acsses to all users this sistem with points need to be change only what we need is some thing like "vote up" or just a "vote" button. So if u want give vote for phone u will vote but there will not be option to give some phone 1 from 10 just becouse u dont like the company...
