3 sounds gud though determined fanboys can click the vote button for ever, ruining the voting system again. But another method u cud consider is defining a specific limit as to how bad one can rate a phone based on ur own judgement on what the phone deserves. Any vote below that limit shud nt b accepted. Say for the galaxy s2, a dissatisfied customer will give it a 6 for the performance if he was honest. So u cud set the limit at 5. No votes below that shud be accepted.

Opt. 2 - Logged in users. Although fake/duplicate user accounts can be really annoying to deal with it's also annoying to make 10 new accounts w/ email confirmation ( can't vote before confirmed). Proxy is way faster for those rate-bot-losers.

Yes i'm also do this :)
to populate my phone.
So i think no 1 option and a CAPTCHA almost solve your problem.
Why this not solve the hole problem because a guy like me start to do something he never stop unless he get bored and CAPTCHA is most annoying thing.
Why not no2 or no3
because many people don't to register in a site to just vote or comment in a site and no3 option is just give how is the best but we also want to know how is bad,
so this is my thought last decision is your.
PS. anything you do but don't apply no.2 that reduce the no of votes and comments

by creating a percentage bar for three categories :design of the phone, features of the phone and performance of the phone. where the user would choose a percentage from each category so that not all votes are the same. 100% is for perfect and 0% is for bad.
or
introduce a new logic by creating two kinds of ratings...
one is the user rating and the other is the editor rating which are two stand alone ratings. The user rating is like an average of all the ratings and that doesn't have any negation and the editor rating is just a stand alone rating or anything like that but is just influenced by the gsmarena editors. Why not you come up with your own rating alongside with the user rating so that readers of your page will have a view of what you say is good and not good along with what people feel.
So, if the difference between the user rating and the editor rating is too significant, you can introduce some logic to tell that there is some fraudulent happening at the user rating for that particular product or model or it would be self evident to the users that the user rating is something fishy. And also, let the ratings be not jus ratings, capturing the comments and ratings from user should well define the meaning of what and why the rating is given to a particular model.

U should use a facebook integrated system for voting this would avoid bogus voting material and u should repost the news so that people have more awareness about phones and bring the best on top currently htc one x should be on top

Option 3 will not solve your problem.
For stopping fake votes, option two is better. Though it may result in low voting, but accuracy will be higher.
Alternatively, you should start your own rating. User rating have less following. Its like a movie critic.

Option N2 its the best of all. Its better have less votes, but more accurate than thousand of votes and zero accuracy.
II cant see the value of the votes over a cell phone wich is not available yet (808 4 example). Limit the posibility of voting only for available phones.
If one user vote for one phone, i cant see the logic about same user vote same phone. So, just 1 vote per user/phone sound pretty logic for me..
And last of all.. How many phone could have and test the same user? 4 for year? 10?! 20?!?! i think its gonna be a good idea, set a max number of phones per month per user.. to give an example..
About the users without facebook.. a email registration with confirmation, sound good for me. If you have plenty of mails, you could have plenty of facebooks too. Dont you think?
I hope it help.
PS: Sorry for my english. I hope you can understand me correctly.. :D

Method #02 is an appropriate way to get more accurate reviews/rating for any phone. The fear that not so popular phones would not be rated can be easily resolved by reducing some of the ad space to quick rating space for some random phones.
When this goes for a while and all phones reach a optimum rating level, you can put to use your ad space again, and not be afraid of no rating for upcoming less popular phones, because those can be brought to lime light easily, they are new, upcoming, and as per interest of customers mostly.
BTW, this is the first time I logged in via facebook account to GSMarena, lol. But crazy fans not just ruin the rating system, few will work for it too, by voting the not so popular phones. And of course there are many GSMarena fans too, they won't let you guys suffer.
Good Luck!

If it would be possible, i think the best thing would be to reset all the votes, then somebody who is competent and objective enough from your staff should rate every phone and afterward you should limit the possible votes of the users to a maximum difference of 2 or 3 points higher or lower than the original vote of the staff - this would better limit the nasty votes of the people with ''to great ambition'';
- another possibility would be to leave everything as it is and beside that include the possibility of seeing the votes of the staff only (here we could all be certain that there were no foul votes)
- if this is not possible then I guess option number 2 is the next best thing, anyway it is nice to see that you guys really care.
Keep up the great work
Cheers

we cant stop 100% about the fake posts in any website. there are lot of free email account providers and its just about to fill a form.
login from facebook is something practical + its just a matter of one click. In you app, you only asking the basic info to connect so that wont be a big fuzz for anyone.
i think its something practical. by profession, im in web industry so thats something usual method i also using when customers asking about these type of issues.
PS : we can have fake FB profiles too.. :) then you can decide something about filtering user rankings. but its another hell out of job... !@#$%^&

Scrap the user voting, i dont care what OTHER people think about a phone, i think its best that the editors at gsmarena.com rate a phone out of 10 and post it with the review of the phone. Engadget.com did it for a shor period, i thought it was excellent. ive never really looked at a phones user voting results anyway.
