d best way 2 ovrcome this problem in my opinion is to change the voting systen a little bit..out of the 10 points that is given to a phone, reserve 5 points for a gsm arena phone reviewer n keep the rest of d 5 point (max points that can be given by a reader)for public voting,n publish the total points as the phones final rating in each field..this will b easier 2 do n will b more cntrolled..n users shud b logged in to post a vote,if possible gsm arena sud offer membership accounts to its users so ppl nt havng a facebook account(ppl in china) can also vote..

Get a proper login system first. Ditch Facebook. For a lot of people like me, I find it intrusive that I have to 'signup' with Facebook. Allow only registered users to rate.
Even if spammers come, it will be difficult to manipulate - just keep a check on suspicious activity & suspend any associated accounts. This should solve the problem completely.
It may seem to be a long way out - but its actually the shortcut to a muh better rating system!

          1st..
Do away with numbers.. show sliders instead..smooth sliders without integral breaks so that ppl dont come to know that they are the same dropdown lists in disguise.. give one side a thumbs up an the other a thumbs down and an avg mark smewhere inthe middle..

          2nd..
The same no system as before but with a twist.. the extreme values of the attribute should be 2pts below and above the avg value.. eg. if a phone gets 7pts for features.. voters should be able to vote only 5,6,7,8,9 points.. logically and mathematically.. if a phone gets constant lower/higher scores.. its avg value as wel as extreme values also gets shifted acoordingly..

also filter out votes made from same ip/user etc or trivial votes like 10-10-10 etc

1 is no good. Lot of people vote 10-10-10 and mean it, I would think. Besides, it will be easy for them to think about another way to cheat. Option 2 is a bit painful, as I don't have a fb account, but it may be the best solution available. 3 is too weak, again - plus if I own a terrible phone, I would like to be able to show it, so others won't make the same mistake, and that possibility would be lost.
So, all in all, the second way will be the one that works best, as far as I can tell!

Yep.. I guess Option 2 would be the best one to go with. Also, each person should be allowed to vote only once per phone & if he clicks the vote button again for the same phone, his original vote score must get replaced.

It's good to see GSMArena kicking into action and actually doing something about the Vote Raping going on.

I think make ur facebook page more interactive N start voting thr..for simple.comparisons

N for other ratings....use the method which need an account....any person who is willing to vote wil create it...
Give a captcha at end of it..and also a personal review abt each rating

Confused, 19 Apr 2012Option 1: not useful i've started ignoring your rankings O... moreI have a suggestion. Everybody can vote ONLY if the person owns the phone. You cannot vote for something you do not own. How will you find the phone and owner? SIMPLY as for the IMEI. If more persons use same IMEI or the IMEI belongs to different phone do not take the vote into account!

I think if there is way to restrict the voting only to those who do that directly from a cell phone, and, yes and, if there is a way to track the cell phone serial number, in that case you can filter more than voting from the same phone. Do it look so naive? -:(

2nd option sounds fine. But I think it might be added the option to use Google, Yahoo accounts (and other if any I'm missing).

                                    Hi,
Sorry to say it but, I've never really found that rating useful. I think that the ranking by daily interest and the popularity based on daily interest, and may be a daily interest history would provide meaningful data.

                                    Regards!

must be a captcha for voting, there are many types of new captcha in market like calculation and image puzzle captcha...........

In my opinion it will be best with a combination of these(In accordance to reliability):
                                        - Rated by GSMArena
                                        - Voting by group of approved reviewers. Example: Those with their own websites and have unbiased reviews (or no fanboy style reviews).
                                        - Voting by logged-in members (They can still make multiple accounts to spam the votes)
