Reason, you don't need to push buttons only touch them so it's like flying over letters with touchscreen. So you push faster every letter.

They should concentrate on a generic bluetooth+micro usb attachable+ fold able keyboard. Change your phone, keep the board.

I like buttons. My HTC TyTn/Hermes 100 has so many buttons! COuld play any game on it!

        THink about it, PSX emulator.

As far as texting, Samsung has won me with there Swype

it's acceptable for me if they're done with qwerty phones. but it really sounds stupid to make thin device and don't even give a damn about battery life. I own a HTC One X,no battery issue but if they have such a thought, I think I'm done with HTC.

Cant agree with that, if you are fast typer you can write with touch screen phone faster than qwerty. It just take little time to get used to it, but the results are incredible and soon you are typing master.

I'm saying this with almost 3 years experience. First it was total disaster, after few months i wroted MUCH faster than ever with physical qwerty.

So it mostly about prejudice. Just give it change.

I'm not surprised by HTC decision physical qwerty is dying.

Well that's just great...No decent batteries, no QWERTY (No decent communication). Another company (After Microsoft with their dumbphone OS) that totally stopped giving a damn about the more intelligent users - they are focusing entirely on the most primitive users who only care about the design.

You will not lose anything if you put an integration for games to control them with QWERTY and make some letters more prominent like "W for forward" and "S backward" like in most games

Sorry to add this, but for me as a user, QWERTY makes perfect sense, not only for texting (SMS and emails) but even for browsing. I bought an Android without QWERTY and now everyday I think I should have waited for a good model with QWERTY to come out at the time...

Just saying what I see in customers...

Tine, 20 Apr 2012I have htc desire z and it is the best fone I have ever use... morehtc had the most hardware related issues of ALL phone brands. the desire z was the only decent phone HTC created witha hardware keyboard. But by far, NOKIA has/had the best qwerty keyboards. The N900, E71-E73, E55, and now asha series phones has incredible keyboards.
Yes, qwerty keyboards are being phased out, but no matter wat anybody says, NO touchscreen phone can match the quality of typing that a hardware qwerty phone can.

I can't believe their decision to follow some distorted survey data that people want thin phones over battery.

Just because most of the public are unaware of three dimensional space optimisation (your phone can be 1mm wider instead of 15mm taller for example) then why should their supposed experts follow some odd survey advice. You can consider it a technical issue people don't understand (well people should but it seems most are mathematical morons).

I don't mind them dropping hardware keypads but the thin obsession is silly.
