Huawei isn't developer community friendly like other manufacturers who give you an option to unlock bootloader.

Lesson learned. Why use 3rd party software to operate your device. Huawei, learned the lesson, Samsung on other smart devices manufacturer should already b working on their own OS and even their own GPS global map, just like Apple. Create you own stuff. period.

There's 1.3 billion people in China. Unlike Nokia, Huawei have a base population that can support its own OS. The population of EU is only 500 million. The population of US is only 320 million. Huawei needs their own OS for long-term survival.

I hope Huaweis developer fund spurs a set of apps and services that surpass Googles, that other manufacturers take notice and jump on board, and as a result a more open distributed app store maintained by device manufacturers becomes viable. Without a need for GMS, AOSP might become the preferred version, freeing the world of one of the most egregious privacy violators. (/pie in the sky)

Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Realme needs to work together and develop their own OS and app store to secure their future. What the US did to ZTE and Huawei, can also happen to any of them as well.

The way I interpret the later statement, it makes clear that Huawei wants its own something which is not Android, not even close to Android Open Source.
This could be a good thing or bad, who knows. Maybe Chinese will start their own spying like Americans are doing. It would've been far better had Amercian Govt. developed a little restraint on their own data collection crap.
Or maybe US already hacked everything on Earth by Quantum Computing or something, maybe I'm over imagining... :D
Anyhow, wish Huawei all the best with this. I hope this entire stuff doesn't get too ugly for us consumers, whom nobody listens anyways to.

Sure, the move makes perfect sense.
User surveillance by the Chinese government is so much easier if you control the ecosystem.
That's the reason why they blocked Google in China in the first place.
