Weekly poll: high refresh rate screens will be common in 2020 phones, but do you want one?

02 February 2020
Several major smartphone brands have announced plans to introduce flagships with 120Hz displays in Q1 this year.

GAMIRSFM, 03 Feb 2020Again, you can chose if you want to use 90hz or 60hz or 120... moreI'm hardly hating, just voicing my opinion that it's overkill. I have a 75hz monitor and it has a noticable visual improvement over 60hz, and even that would be plenty for the mainstream user. But 120hz? That's just ridiculous unless it's a fully fledged gaming phone.

To me is just manufacturers trying to figure out a way to sell more devices.

Ever heard of smoothness and improved UI Experience.

If you ever use a 90 hz or 120hz phone you will never want to go back to 60hz.

As for battery life. No issues. My 7t pro will get 10 hours of on screen time running 90hz all the time.

Once apple puts high refresh rate on the next iphone everyone else will follow.

Yes to 120Hz @ QHD screen or higher, I really can't stand lower resolution phones it is like downgrading while paying a premium.

I mean, I'm perfectly fine with 60 Hz, I put most of my devices in power saving mode anyway.

I noticed a lot of comments were about OLED and burning in. I have a 3 year old tablet with OLED, played a lot of games for like hours, and the screen is at almost perfect condition (only a little but yellowish, but you'll only notice if there's another device next to it). The brightness was at 25% max 95% of the time. Just don't use your stuff at high brightness all the time and there's a way smaller chance you'll get the issues, trust me.

I really don't care whether my screen is with 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz or 240Hz refresh rate... I just want one thing from the companies which for me is the most important and essential thing - the phone to be CHEAP for it's specs!!! I mean if you can add me an 120Hz or 240Hz for just ten to twenty extra bucks OK but if I have to pay a lot of extra cash for getting this feature - no thanks. I wish the companies start making all phone segments cheaper in this decade instead of bringing more new fancy and weird features in the devices.

Most of the phone games are 30 fps, some 60. Anything over that is very rare.

As long as you can limit it to 30 on screen most of the time, more if the game can handle it i don't see the issue.
(intelligent screen refresh is what is needed)

Nubia, ROG 2 and Razer already giving 120hz. They'll probably jump to 144hz this year.
Samsung already confirmed 120hz on s20.
IPhone will probably bring 120hz too this year.
Sony already gave 120hz display, they just need to unlock it by default and put a beefier battery.
Even mid rangers this year from Redmi and Realme giving 120hz.

You can choose if you want to use 2K or 1080p or 4K display no need to be hating on the thing, you won't be forced to use it.

You can choose if you want to use 4G or 3G or 5G speed no need to be hating on the thing, you won't be forced to use it.

You can choose if you want to use stereo speaker or mono audio output or dolby surround no need to be hating on the thing, you won't be forced to use it.

The only right claim is that Apple users don't question anything (Like it's a good thing, lol), but that "anything" is mostly lack of this or that. Apple is always late and basically every new feature, software or hardware, is first available in Android phones.

Why? Do not blame the people because i believe both sides have its smart and dumb people. But its because Apple phone is trustworthy, while Android phone is not.
