LG will only sell premium 5G flagships in NA and Europe, move mid-rangers production to ODMs

04 February 2020
The premium LG V60 will be available in Western markets because they are less price sensitive than South Korea (where LG will focus on the G9).

Lg just failed the entry level phone market because they cannot even make a proper everyday phone for the masses. Bad chipsets with an even crappier skin with no OS support at all. They are bleeding money so what makes you think their "new" phones will be any better? They only reason they did not exit the phone market is to save face. They do not want to be the news headline "Big tech company exits smartphone market" so they keep making these almost flagships just to be in the news but not in large quantities because they know no one will buy them.

Here in my country, nationwide 5G network is still not a thing. I'm not even sure when I can see that coming any time soon. So buying a 5G device at the moment in such condition is unnecessary and irrelevant.

That Quad HiFi DAC support and total manual control during photo and video shooting makes me in love with the LG. I was about to get myself an Xperia 5, but I don't like Sony's Cinema Pro app as it doesn't have audio control during video recording.

No wonder why the V50 5G and the G8 shares the same spec, the only difference being either 5G or no 5G.

ODM handsets with poor support will do nothing to further their brand on the bottom. High-end handsets with poor support will do nothing to further their brand at the top. Focusing on select markets without improving their pathetic software division changes nothing.

Does "flagship" mean they will strip it down to the same boring features as every other fashion phone? Maybe cut the headphone jack, cut some battery capacity, and cut global roaming frequencies to add 7 more cameras?

First lg think about dropping the thinq nonsense. then think about your pricing.

From my European standpoint, manufacturing quality of lg phones is just fine. What's missing is constance and fast updates for Android, first and foremost.

It would also be nice to have capable cameras for the price in lower end phones.

If they sold their flagships at a good price first, people wouldn't ignore them. You got a great deal but others forgot about LG altogether due to their strategy.

as a asian company LG knows asian people are smart enough to not buy their phones with sub par user experience and support.

I already shyed away from high price tags. Since last year, I draw a line not to cross, also create a list what features must include. Unfortunately I had to lower my standards and drop two of my features, because I wanted a phone without cutout screen and the market is very limited.
