Those that will think nubia " gaming" phone had it first.
Not even counting the Sharp that has 240Hz oled, while other brands still use cheap 60Hz screen.

Oh, you mean Sony.
I'... more1. No. One of the major criticisms about Sony phones is their insistence on having 4K HDR screens. Apparently, they hate it when it's only 1080p, but also hate it when it's already 4K. Sony made a QHD phone, and that phone still didn't exempt from the hatred by the people. Oh how poor Sony is - they deserve better.
2. If we're going to say that 4K is irrelevant on smartphones, then we might as well settle for 1080p instead, as there's absolutely no difference beyond that resolution.
3. TVs are made for a different purpose. Why would a smartphone cannibalize the sales of a TV? Smartphones can't even provide as good of a movie experience as a TV, but at least 4K HDR smartphones provide near theater level of multimedia on the go. TVs have higher screen brightness, superior contrast, color reproduction, picture processing and rendering, audio peripherals, etc. - how in the world would a smartphone beat a TV?

At the current rate of technology, I doubt Samsung and Apple would even bother having 4K HDR panels, let alone 8K.
Yet, their prices would be even higher than Sony's.

Heck, higher refresh rate screens consume more energy than higher resolution panels, since it drives the GPU harder to render more frames, compared to higher resolution screens that only require some more CPU power to render pixels.

That looks like some poor 8k footage. Even on my 1080p display I can see grain and some weird exposure flickering issues.

Afcourse the footage from IMX 586 isn't gonna be that great compared to other better sensors.
Rather than 8k, I am more excited about 4k HDR @120fps.
S20 will probably support that feature.

Classic Qualcomm, much hype, no content. I'm glad I live in the only part of the world where their enforcing patents doesn't lock me into buying stuff with their processors.

it would only look good without pixel binning which means it must be a normal 48MP sensor or a 192MP one with binning.

Why worry about 8k resolution if pretty much no one has 8k displays and even if they have, they won't notice the difference? I've watched 4k content in 65" screens and it's perfect, if it was sharper it's only noticeable if you are too close to the screen.
Please Qualcomm, focus on making processors to be easier and faster for developers to make algorithms to perform faster in low-light photos and also to match Apple's processors in speed vs battery consumption... That should be the goal, not to shook some overwhelming resolution video that no one cares neither needs.

Of course the screen used on TVs are much better than mobile screens by far.
