Remember when Huawei felt all mighty and said they were going to build their own store with their own resources?

Yeah, that was a funny time. I hardly doubt this will work either. Xiaomi's store is only full of theme, and I didn't even know there was an AppStore from Vivo and Oppo lol

It is all about the apps, these and their phones while it does use the android OS, they did not use the GSM/google play (not in China) and they are doing just fine all these years ( some of them are already celebrating 10 years).

But the problems of these OEMs are that they were too relays on the GSM/google play for the global version of their phones all these years that they never think of working together even inside China to have all the OEM under “one app stores “ instead, every OEM came with their own version of app stores, huawei got its app gallery, Xiaomi got its own app stores, oppo or vivo might be under BBK but I think even them got its own version of app stores ( which it is pretty messy when you think about it)

It is like Samsung’s phones got play store and a Samsung app stores. But the Chinese OEM only got play store for global version of the phones while phones that sell in China only got their own app stores!

But now, if they all work together and all their phones will now use “one app stores “ and share with every OEM. Then they can ask outside third party app developers to port their app into this new app stores while run on every Chinese phones on whatever brands.

Please Read, 06 Feb 2020It is not Global Alliance but Global Developer Service Alli... moreLOL..
Sometime people read, but don't understand and make comment.

I wouldn't be laughing anymore at China... When they get together. This will be unprecedented. That's like nearly half of the entire smartphone globally sold.

This makes sense. And personally I am fully for this. Google is great. But we need more alternatives. Android is meant to be all about diversity and options.

We should welcome this. As China make the best handsets in the world. They are ahead of Apple. By quantum years... Especially this month...

Wouldn't surprise me if they all begin to use HarmonyOS. Personally I would be open to having harmony OS on a handset.

And we should take it upon ourselves to encourage or even help develop apps for companies or ourselves for these Chinese behemoths.

Now we need to start encouraging app developers and companies to seriously consider developing apps for these chinese companies and harmony OS.

We need to have more choice. China and India combined are perfectly capable of giving us the user and consumer a very strong and superb alternative to Google and Apple.

Personally. I don't doubt india and china's capabilities at all. Neither should you. But encourage.

Hmm I saw it coming over a year ago only the Alliance came a bit late. I knew the West may wants to stop them on their Technology dominant as it happened to Huawei but also with others OEMs. Right step and good luck.

Not enough available info for me to take a position. If this move is just to give developers/users another location to get the same thing they currently do, then it will be a missed opportunity for everyone involve.

Good move. The US political BS is only gonna hurt more and more non-US OEMs down the road. It's better to get as independent as possible. Next thing they should do is start working on a new OS (linux-based or otherwise). With joint capability, they'll be more likely to pull it off. Not only would it protect the future of these companies, but it would also put an end to the Android monopoly.

Wow, that name though " GLOBAL ALLIANCE"

yet companies behind are all from china . Funny thing is , they use the name global just to attract consumer and developer but in the end it will become like google in the future, will be controlled by china.

This is awesome!!! The power of China. Great idea. Absolutely brilliant idea. This is a great time for developers from all around the world. Another alternative for the consumer. Google, Apple. And now the Chinese behemoths are uniting into a formidable force to reckoned with. This is fantastic news. Combined they are extremely powerful. And unstoppable. Genius idea.

Huawei + Xiaomi + BBK Group account for total 42% of all smartphone sales worldwide. Be careful Gogule aka Google.

What sounds very funny would be if after years all of these companies would use the currently OS developed by Huawei.

                            It's more about independence.

Let's get this straight, they are pledging an assembly to work together against Google but they are still using GMS/Play Store and they all think that Google will just sit back and watch them plan against it w/out Google retaliating back, huh?

Arrogance and ignorance at its best right here!

Not surprising, everyone would want to have unique standout product like iPhone. Now all the Android companies are selling more or less the same and it’s very difficult for companies to stand out from the crowded market
