I may well be a part of PC master race at the moment, but I am definitely impressed with the Xbox. The fact that Microsoft offers backward compatibility for physical CDs of old Xbox consoles and also Xbox Play Anywhere made me want to buy an Xbox, and this is coming from someone who used to be a hardcore Sony PlayStation user.

It'll be not near to some of higher mid range gpus, let alone top tires.. You're completely clueless.. Even AMD's top toil couldn't get closer to any of 2080s.. You've made joke of yourself.. Doesn't matter your PC guy or not.. I've been a ps4 player for 4 years.. So also doesn't matter to me..

It's already tested by Digital Foundry of this being equivalent of RTX 2080 super. At the price point of 700$ this puts the last nail on the master race.

Unless you're sporting a 2080 Ti or Titan, your rig is inferior to a console. There's no2-way about it. 98% of the PC user suddenly became the inferior race. And it's coming from a PC user.

Apple should be fined 10X more than this. There also Samsung should be fined here for not equalling their flagship specs sheet.. I would never buy any Exynos s20 for the bottleneck GPU performance compared Snapdragon..

Kangal, 17 Mar 2020I think people have to realise the "Max Performance" don't ... moreI'm just replying your two points.

Firstly flop isn't the right thing to measure any graphic performance as it only somewhat effects gpu's actual performance. It should be considered as just a theoretical unit. Graphics need other major strength to gain the actual performance.

Secondly if you talk about ram you should think at first here you're talking a gaming console which only contains VRAM, which is full potential to gaming only. And games on each platform console vs pc is bit different. Because games of consoles come with lower storage requirement for lower graphics settings and limited settings control. And only in few things consoles will always be ahead of PC, one of is releasing most news games before than PC. Because Devs will make their games always optimize for console at first for the easier development facility (one product, one system). That's how console run so long with older specs, although most of capable configured PCs also do the same.. Even one huge sized game doesn't run that amount data all together while playing. So for typical console gaming with newer specs and facilities.. It's good enough ..

But The thing is AMD pretty much ahead of Nvidia at mid and low end graphics in term colour and dynamic range handing. So without Ray Tracing their picture processing is so good indeed.

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription if I buy an Xbox? Someone who have Xbox please clarify because I would like to get an Xbox One X pretty soon.

I wonder how AMD handles the RayTracing on this Xbox. They're an year late to this party, and frankly the demands this tech puts on hardware, there's not much room for error.

I'm still not convinced that all games would be 4K60 here, some are bound to get upscaled. Ray traced ones would definitely be so.

                          The price is worrying though.
But that's the trend for almost all electronics these past few years, be it mobile or CPU/GPUs of x86.

Jaeger, 17 Mar 2020It's possible that this new console could run native 4K gam... moreYeah I doubt it will be too capable but overall still better than the last models.

I think people have to realise the "Max Performance" don't equal to "Average Performance".

We shouldn't expect it to run at 12TFlops and at 3.8GHz all the time. As a rule of thumb, consoles generally run around 80% of Max Performance. So expect it to run around 3.0GHz CPU, instead of 3.8GHz, whilst the GPU stays at a consistent 1.5GHz instead of 1.9GHz. This helps keep the power draw low, the fan in check, and the equipment to last long. Not to mention the performance...the beauty of consistency.

With that in-mind, can it run at 4K, 60fps?
Yes. However, the graphics will have to be turned from Max/Ultra down to High.
Sure, developers have more money on the line, and more resources to throw at optimising the games. Not to mention the SDK is much better than on PC. But there's still only so much that you can do software-wise until you get diminishing returns that could be better addressed by hardware.

Overall, the CPU performance is a bit higher than I anticipated. The GPU specs are way overblown, this thing is much much more graphically powerful than it needs to be. The Storage solution is bang on. All the extra attention to cooling, servicing, and other tidbits do meet (or exceed) my expectations. The launch and price are pretty great (November 2020, $499) if the likely rumours are to be true.

....the one place this fails is on Memory. That 16GB Module only leaves you with 10GB for the game. That's not much. And it might be enough for a few years, but its going to be the bottleneck for the long-term. Remember the Xbox 360 and it's 512MB of RAM? It was enough for launch, but became excruciatingly limiting as the years went on. For that reason, they really really should've gone with a 32GB GDDR6 Module instead.

very impressive hardware, est price at US$700, top tier console, but it's widely known that their 2nd tier xbox series s will be significantly cheaper at US$400 (est) and that under cuts the ps5 est price, but it's a lower spec machine, what will be interesting if they can lure developers to make exclusive games which the current gen xbox one don't really have much of, exclusive killer app (console ) games, such as horizon dawn zero, spiderman, god of war, street fighter 5, last of us 2, ghost of tsushima, final fantasy 7 remake, gran turismo sport, the list goes on and on, i wonder if MS can resolve this problem, also MS has issues with market strategy, the problem with xbox one is that microsoft released the xbox one in Hong Kong, singapore, korea and japan a year later than anywhere in the world during late 2014, same with Japan, they only sell around 25-100 xbox one per week for the last 5 years, ps4 gained significantly foothold because of this poor strategy.

MS also seems to be concertrating releasing accessories and different version of xbox one which is bizarre, instead of making games, they released so many different colours of controllers, pro elite controller, phyisically challenged controller and models such as Xbox one SAD edition (S all digital)

Impressive, but the Switch is still better. Not for its hardware, but for its games and versatility. Since the Gamecube that Nintendo stopped competing with Sony and Microsoft
