Insiders: Galaxy S20 lineup is selling less than the S10, S20 Ultra the most popular

18 March 2020
The Galaxy S20 Ultra reportedly accounts for over 50% of pre-orders, even though Samsung expected the S20+ to be the top seller.

No need to cover up failures with COVID19. I bought S10+ after considering S20+ on 16th March because s20+ Exynos are failures. Why pay insane amounts for a failed product?

I don't have a P30 Pro (old phone already, no incentive to get one to revisit) at the moment so I can't compare, but from my past experience the performance is similar in terms of image quality.

I’d also say the price increase is a major factor for galaxy s20’s decrease

I don't understand why they made 3 models S20,S20+ and Ultra (except the Z Flip). They could better cut the S20+ and drop the price of S20 ultra a few hundred.

I bought S10+ yesterday. Cost was not an issue because S20 was more suited to me on paper and it had very little price difference. Then reason? You don't pay 1000-1100$ for a glitchy experience. Phones looked cheap despite being a glass sandwich. They were heating much with regular usage (exynos 4g), camera was poorly optimized with more detail being the only pro, it was jittery. Phone was too thin to protect screen from falls.

lol it's what they deserve. Even a blind guy could see this coming and this is not corona's fault.
                      - high prices
                      - no headphone jack
                      - battery despite being bigger, drains fast
                      - different processors for different markets with same prices everywhere
                      - ugly looking camera
                      - despite shrinking the bezels, still not even
                      - only 2 years of support
                      - bad optimization
                      and again high prices

Reason why Samsung keeps hiking prices with almost little to no improvement in the phones is because of people who will buy anything given the righ naming Pro, Max, Ultra, Super etc. and exhorbitant pricing equates the best in the minds of the uninformed.

well, I'm not interested in any of the S20 series. I'm still happy with my Note 9.

It's like everywhere else. Top models from big companies get the most favor, AS WELL AS their smaller, cheaper, somewhat lesser but not entirely so, Junior-most siblings.

S10e was a hit, iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are a hit. S20 doesn't feel that way. It's positioning is not the champ of affordable, no-nonsense almost flagship with some compromises but which also lower the price. Instead, It's the lowest among equals and S20 ultra beats both juniors on every conceivable count (the number heavy marketingwise).

It was bound to happen because Samsung wanted to push ultra into as many hands as possible. They intentionally sabotaged the other 2 models.

I think that's due to the raised prices & there's no actual real life differences. I own the S10+ & I went to a local Samsung store to try out the S20 series & I still like my S10+ more. I don't like the flatter screen on S20 series, but I like the waterfall display on Mate 30 Pro, it feels futuristic when you hold it in your hands! My next phone is defenitely not a Samsung!

Just started using entry level Galaxy S20 and first impression is that it is too big and badly optimized for one hand use. For example, it is impossible to reach search function in phone call program with one hand etc. Apart from that it is amazing device compared to cheaper Android phones and even more expensive Iphones. And here in EU brand new costs 799Eur (128GB version), plus Samsung offers you trade-in your old phone and gives 100Eur bonus for trade-in. So 699Eur is fair price for such device.

Popular? To me, the Ultra variant is a waste of money that Samsung ever produced in a smartphone, ever. If you're into Samsung, save the money and grab S20+ instead.

The camera is really not good. No improvement over my Note 10+, as far as I can see, under indoor conditions. On the other hand, it's actually smaller than my Note 9.

I think the current S20 series offer nothing groundbreaking in terms of a smartphone. I don't really feel that it even caught up with the Huawei P30 pro, though I don't have that phone. I was just really impressed by my friend's P30 Pro.

Might be better to just wait for the Huawei P40 Pro.
