Insiders: Galaxy S20 lineup is selling less than the S10, S20 Ultra the most popular

18 March 2020
The Galaxy S20 Ultra reportedly accounts for over 50% of pre-orders, even though Samsung expected the S20+ to be the top seller.

This shouldn’t be a surprise, as Samsung themselves engineered the marketing to favor the Ultra.
The Ultra got to reviewers first, with the regular S20 being sent much much later. Obviously the Ultra gets into the consumer mindset first. Besides, many people buy Samsung phones as status symbol, thus will simply opt for the most expensive model.

With those outrageous prices no wonder why the sales are down

The fact that the Ultra is selling the most just goes to prove that the average consumer can't tell the difference between a good product and a gimmickry one. They fall for stupid gimmicks and think that higher numbers in specs are always better (as in a 108mp cam must be better than a 12mp one).

And now because this gimmickry product is selling, others are gonna copy it too.

Galaxy S20 is selling less because of that stupid small 6.2" screen that's why.

wasox, 18 Mar 2020Making 3 versions of a premium flagship is silly, I somewh... moreI dont think it is a problem. But they should be with more different screen sizes.
                        Like S20 with 5.8", 20+ with 6,3" and Ultra with 6.8".
All with same cam setup, so users could choose based on their favorite screen size.
There are people that want same features, but dont want a much larger version.

wasox, 18 Mar 2020Making 3 versions of a premium flagship is silly, I somewh... moreI agree with you. I have been saying for the longest time that I miss they days when there was just one version of a flagship.

Companies have watered down what should have been the flagship and call the real flagship Plus or Pro. Also, these days they have decided to add a third and call it Ultra or Premium. I hate that tactic.

The S5 was the last Galaxy S that was basically a single flagship.

They are lower because they dont offer much than previous version, take away features (headphone jack), while raising the prices. Not this virus smh.

I've said it before, ALL Asian companies this year (especially Oppo, Xiaomi and Huawei) will take major losses this year and it WILL NOT BE BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 (but, that won't stop them all from blaming the pandemic), it will be due to their outrageous price-gouged prices.

I am really laughing at the s20 Ultra owners $1400+ dead OS in about 16-months or so.

My S6 Edge is still surviving. When it die I will go for Xiaomi as it offers more hardware for less price.

Everyone will feel the pinch but at the end of the year Samsung will sell the most, Apple will make the most money, Huawei will drop 3rd they will struggle in EU markets.

All other OEMS wont even make much of a dent in the market.

Making 3 versions of a premium flagship is silly, I somewhat can understand 2, that is, the proper flagship, and the the, more affordable version, but not realesed at the same time
