besides xperia I mark II beleave have some real 12 mpixels. like other brands have 64 and 108 etc. Those numbers just impress average Joe. And one more thing. have you ever see in cinema any camera zoom? I mean zoom to object in long distance? i think not. except in some crazy comedys when zooming face expression... tha dam momments. if directors want to show momments they move camera closer to get perfect picture. so those crazy zooms in mobile segment gimmick. if I want better picture I would go few steps closer then make stupid zoooooooommmmmm whit shaky hands

So, no word if it is still being used.

Photo Pro has much more controls than default app.
      Just like Cinema Pro.

Tann Hauser, 20 Mar 2020I dont mind that at all. Keep the standard cam app for id... moreyes, but photos pro is supposed to behave like a traditional camera so I think there would be plenty of options that are not compatible such as raw noise reduction, focusing / depth of field with the tof sensor. .I had already tested with the Xperia 1 and has equivalent parameters the auto mode offers much clearer, detailed images, colors more precisely and much less noise (I think that bionz x image processing is disabled in manual and I'm afraid this is also the case in pro photos)

anonymous, 20 Mar 2020It is funny how Displaymate praised them all the time. You will never see DM say a phone they tested have lower quality screen.
Every device they test becomes the current best, but you dont see any improvement in image quality over last generation.
S20 shows you exactly same image as s7. Same warm tones (yellow hues for green, gray and white) and red issues.

Also evaluation considers tunning, not hardware.
You dont need to have better screen to have the best tunned screen.

Anonymous, 20 Mar 2020But.. but Sony uses OLED in their flagships.Yes. But with 4K, you cant make screen goes 800 nits.
Same reason Z5P was dimmer than Z5 and Z5c.
            XZ2P was dimmer than XZ2.

anonymous, 20 Mar 2020It is funny how Displaymate praised them all the time.AMOLEDs tends to have excellent accuracy when tested at launch. The problem here is that each colors of AMOLED degrades at different rates. They lose that color accuracy over time and needs calibration after a while and it's hard to calibrate smartphones since custom granular display settings are non-existent unlike Premium OLED TVs.

                        Brighter oled = sooner burn-in.

To preserve oled for longer, you better keep it below 400 nits.
It is not like LCD that you can use at 800 nits all the time.

Look on Phone Arena the review of S20 series, the display part.
Colour chart still show same problem seen since s7, Samsung cant properly show reds without orange hues.

Ridiculous that a $1600 phone makes the famous red bus of London look orange.

Wh... moreYou haven't seen many OLED panels obviously because Samsung is super far away from the best. Samsung super bright screen introduces very obvious PWM on low to mid brightness while Xperia 1 doesn't suffer PWM at all but the trade off is dimmer screen.Samsung has lot's of frequency shift unless you are looking at it at 90 degrees straight. I don't care what reviewers are saying I had all of these phones next to each other and Note 10 has the poorest screen in real life compared to Xperia 1, P30 Pro and iPhone 11. The other day I compared S20 Ultra to Note 10 and once again panel behavior was very similar, Ultra just can't produce proper white background it's always goldish/yellowish just like Note 10

Are you aware almost all phones do not have EIS for 4K60?
                            That is why ....
                            OIS is useless for video.

IA64, 20 Mar 2020I don't wanna get into a debate because I own both Xperia 1... moreDisplays that Samsung uses on their phones are super bad in real life usage. They got better with S10 but still it's not as good as Huawei, Sony and Apple. All you have to do is take Note 10 and compare it to P30 Pro, iPhone 11, Xperia 1 and the difference is obvious. Samsung still has that holographic yellowish tint swinging left and right depending how you angle the phone, all OLED panel have this including Xperia 1 but it's so prominent on Samsung phones and it irritates a lot. Note 10 can't produce proper white color even in Natural mode, it's the worst white among the flaghships.

Why does the panel consume more battery /resolution compared to Samsung panel?

Samsung has the best screen on the market.
Followed by iPhone (which uses Samsung panel).
                                3rd goes to Poor Sony.

Lol sony giving 4K60 in 2020.
And brand boys were justifying not having 4K60 coz phone would heat up too much.

None of the phone try to produce realistic looking night images. They try to brighten it upto 11 and make it look like day. Hope Sony can change that
