Keep the standard cam app for idiot camera point n shoot or night mode stuff, give also PhotoPro for more serious photography.
        Same goes for video.

Thats the way it should be.

Happy lowest common denominator users, happy advanced camera users.

Same abilities on widecam as on main? Well, was expected since both have same dualPDAF build.
That gonna turn some heads around.

Ellio74, 20 Mar 2020Updates? Are you serious? Sony is among the good ones when ... more- Update - yes I am serious, they are incredibly slow, they are regional, often full of bugs and to top it all off, Sony never released changelog what they fixed and what is new.
          - GCam port is Sonys fault because they do not fully support Google Camera API.
          - Mic are OK, LG or Samsung are faaar better. I did tried to record some concerts with Xperia 5 and let's say it didn't go so well.
          - Fingerprint sensor is clean, it does not work - as stated before, support page and even some recals (I didn't bother, I might RMA when I will have new one).
It feels like ages to charge Xperia 5 via Quick Charge compared to PD one - subjective feeling, I did not timed it.
DAC is not improved ... DAC can only be replaced. I can almost bet Sony will only use the generic one integrated in Snapdragon.
          Most of the Youtube is 16:9, you can't see 4K (1:1), 16:9 on Xperia - it's downscaled.

Xperia 1 II is my favorite for 2020 upgrade, but that does not mean I will go easy on it. I never go easy on something like a phone or tablet ... I do not feel obligated to like just because I paid for it.

If you let it go 1/800, it will do again.
            In daylight 1/1600 - 1/2000s is enough.

Mo... moreDon't take me wrong but shooting a video in 21:9 never ocured to me and I never plant to use it, because it's pretty much useless for daily snaper situations (almost every screen is 16:9 after all).
But you are right, if you have a content that is 21:9 4K (witch does not really exists If i am not considering movies) you can shoot and watch on Xperia 4K footage.

Once again shape and size of FPS is tiny and you need to approach it differently.

The GCam port is not the easiest I agree, but that's not (totally) on Sony. These ports are made possible thanks to people that take the time to do it.

The mics are Ok, and it looks like they brought a "Wind removal" feature.

The fingerprint sensor could be better for sure, but mine is working Ok, you just need to keep it kinda clean. This one if it's from the XZP era will be pretty good.

The QC4+ is intercompatible with USB PD, which this phone does support (up to 21W form what as been said).

Also, the DAC is supposed to be improved on this one, with the return of the headphone jack to enjoy.

And I don't know what 4K you're talking about, but 2160p on YouTube is available since forever on these 4K"ish" screensÂ…

Also, some of the issues you've mentionned are from other phones, not this one. I think it's pretty fair to wait until some reviews come out to judge it.

Now a days night mode means multi frame image stacking. Multiple frames images staking causes the loss of very fine details and texture and also reduce the sharpness of a photo due to handshake between the frames.

The Xperia 1 screen literally wipes the floor with the Note10+. Wiping the floor is an understatement. I don't know if it's the 4K screen or the color calibration but on max brightness, anyone who holds both devices will tell you how gorgeous the display of the Xperia 1 is.

I owned hundreds of phones and I'm a developer, nothing really beats Sony display and I don't really care about the sponsored ranking websites whatsoever I'm telling you the truth.

I'm however not a fan of the 21:9 aspect ratio.

I wish it had IPS screen and I would buy it any time. Any OLED is not worth it, when it`s come to our eyes, no matter how beautiful it is and how fantastic quality....

Phinch88, 20 Mar 2020I will be buying this phone for a few reasons 1. Sony ar... moreSorry to burst your bubble, but:
                                      1. 4K screen is kind of wasted on this small form factor. You won't see any difference between it and 1440p, since pixels are so small. And pushing more pixels will require the GPU to work harder and drain more battery.
                                      2. Yes, Sony makes those sensors that everyone uses, but it's not just the hardware that makes photos, but software too. And Sony was never really good with their camera software. It wasn't tragic, just not good enough for the price.
                                      3. Xperia 1 II will have 256GB of base storage, but it will cost just slightly less than Galaxy S20+ with 512 GB of storage. Never compare anything to Apple, because Apple and their customers have their own little world, sane people won't understand it.

I really wish Sony the best, their phones are really good, but they need more than that to sell well with this price tag.

Can't wait as well, it's seem like a really solid device and unlike others this year they didn't donwgraded in any way shape or form.
I will buy it as soon as it's available here, one of the reasons is I really want to get rid of that Xperia 5 :D

BTW: They said they colaborated with Alpha on Xperia 1 and 5 as well ;) Hopefuly this time, they REALLY colaborated.
