Nick Tagataka, 23 Mar 2020Except the new leaks suggest that (non-premium) P40 Pro wil... moreImages in low light through telephoto are garbage. 12mp or 8mp, Nothing much to expect from weak sensor. No wonder they didn't release low light shots from telephoto lens.
There is a reason why Samsung used IMX 586 for telephoto. They wanted to make the best telephoto camera on market. Huawei sucks in low LIGHT through telephoto lens, PERIOD.
Don't want to waste more brain cells arguing with a Huawei brand apologist.

As a Huawei user, its using Leica smooth/vivid film simulation. Definitely has that 'Leica look'. Well I prefer that simulation sometimes, especially when it comes to street photography, not on landscape. U'll be fine & natural when not using it. The impressive part are the natural bokeh effect of these sample, causing by the big sensor. Nice.
And for the same person everytime complaining about bad low light in telephoto, get a life. Beyond 125mm (x5 zoom & above) professionals usually use it for wildlife & sports photography, DAYLIGHT. If the sport at night on a stadium, theres already a lot of spotlight. The important parts are quality, which is still questionable. All I care about are bright and fast aperture between 27-85mm, which it will.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2020Haha, Huawei back to marketing tricks again. No wonder, th... moreThey are unofficial, leaked sample photos from the regular P40 that is meant to compete with the regular S20 (which comes 3x "Hybrid Optics Zoom" vs the proper 3x telephoto lens of P40). Of course it will fare worse in long range zoom than the Ultra, they are not even meant to be directly compared to each other anyway.

-overpri... more"copy ugly design on back from Samsung"
That's not how the designing process works. Both S20 and P40 are released in Q1 2020 and there's no way for one company to copy the other's design language. If they look similar then that's just a coincidence. Front, yes they copied S10+'s ugly pill shaped camera cutout, but back, no.
"now they are copying the image processing too"
Leica filters that pumps up contrast and vibrancy of photos have been on Huawei phones since P9 era. And what does it even mean by copying the image processing? That makes absolutely no sense lmao.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2020Oh yeah, that's why we get huge difference in low light sho... moreExcept the new leaks suggest that (non-premium) P40 Pro will come with a larger 12MP sensor instead of the old 8MP one behind 5x zoom lens, which implies the same sensor could be on the Premium version as well but there would be two of them instead of one. So let's just not jump to the conclusion and wait for the actual phones to be released, yeah?

Am I the only one to notice that these are real "bokeh" shots as to processed shots?
The sensor size that they're using must be HUGE (in comparison to a normal phone like the S20 or iPhone)..
Image quality is amazing. That said, I hate the punchy contrast and the Leica glow processing that Leica is proud of.

Even if the earlier generations will have too much noise, it's still better than nothing.
Super useful tool.

AnonD-762416, 23 Mar 2020People don't want bland colours, they don't want flat sound... moreI like Oppo in This regard coz they are offering the most natural and accurate colors in their images on the Find X2 pro. People who want punchy, vibrant images can simply tick chroma mode option in Settings.
Studio headphones are designed for a particular purpose which is to reproduce the most accurate sound which in turn is important for professional purposes. Those headphones are tuned for that purposes only.
What is pleasing to the ear vs the most accurate sound are two different things.

Those samples have been taken by the REGULAR P40, not P40 Pro Premium. If you look at the 4th image with exif data, you can see that it says F1.9 - definitely not Pro which has F1.8 lens for the main camera.

That's why cameras and film has always added saturation and that's why TV's looks like they do and that's why audio equipment has a V-shape. Give a pair of studio headphones to any normal person and they'd consider them cheap or broken. Guaranteed.

Huawei still using same telephoto sensor as last year resulting in mediocre performance in low light.
On top of that, we can get great images in low light through telephoto using gcam, but even that is not available for Huawei.

The ignorance in these comment sections is plentiful. People don't know why certain things are hard to develop. They don't know what quality actually is.
They just want fancy colors, daylight pictures at night. Basically things that sparkle and shimmer. Oh and Samsung #1, when they are actually behind the curve.

Everyone knows S20 ultra has best telephoto lens on market. Huawei is comparable in day time but at night, it just gets worse.
S20 ultra has autofocus issues on main lens, not on telephoto lens.

We know their cameras will be good especially in low light. You just need to know how much better they are than the competition.
