I currently own a G8, and I am seriously happy with the purchase. I expect the G9 to follow the same path as the G8 in providing a non-5G V60 as what the G8 did to the V50, but I don't think I'll be switching phones any time soon since 5G network is still in infancy here in Malaysia. As for the SD765G chipset, I definitely don't mind that.

705 dollars is pricey for a mid range phone. When phones such as ZTE axon 11 5G has the same chipset for nearly half the price.

This is killer, all the features I need at an affordable rate. Going to love this.
Wonder if they will include a dual screen case with this or not. But really looking forward to this.

paco2x, 23 Mar 2020I think it makes sense, LG don't have any decent mid range ... moreAnd so what?. With or without update, they simply do the job. No lag, no problem with nothing. Are very good phones.

indlvarn, 23 Mar 2020Price of flagships this year is a joke, not only LG. You ca... moreWith the economy further affected by pandemic and factories closing down temporarily, they probably operating at a loss. I guess they have no other option but to sell using ceiling price for their devices. It's just a really bad bad time to even release any phone now.

Once upon a time, i'm a fanboy of LG's smartphone lineups. I'm always excited what innovation they brought to us in smartphone realm. LG G2 with insane aspect ratio and back button. LG G3 with QHD display. LG G5 with accessories and detachable batteries. All that innovation, even though not come into fruitition and spent so much money, is pleasing to see..

Vic, 23 Mar 2020Yet another oversized junk. Come on, guys, make 10 inch pho... moreAlmost 7 inch... Beggars belief. Where are the 158mm and below smartphones? Trouble is, any lack of sales will be blamed on the damned virus.

If these specs are true, then no; absolutely not. 1080p panel, 4,000mAH battery to go with 5G, and $700 for a mid-range chipset?
LG lost my interest this year. You're better off getting a V50 at half the cost. Snapdragonn 855 is still a solid chipset.
Heck, why doesn't the G9 go non-5G with the Snapdragon 855+? That would make the phone MUCH more worth it so long as it added a 2K P-OLED with 90Hz refresh, not bigger than 6.5", and camera improvement.

This I believe means it will support aptx/aptx HD. A midrange with a quad dac is Unheard of. A midrange supporting aptx is also Unheard of so we'll wait and see.

$705 for this?? Even Sony doesn't go over $500 for their current mid range lineup this year!
Anyway, why ruin the reputation of the lineup though?
It seems Samsung started this all with the regular Note 10 being a lower class device compared to previous Note 9, then Apple with the iPhone 11 becoming the lower tier variant.
It seems that their flagship tier lineup is becoming mid range level, but the price stays the same, for real.

Chipset downgrade can be understood but why so big a display? Why can't LG release a smaller 5.5 inch with this spec? The same battery size means a little thicker but 1-2 mm extra doesn't matter big.
Market is so flooded with 6.4+ inch phones, kinda boring. The last great pocketable flagship phone was s10e.
