For everyone talking about moto changing it's OS, it has already started. Moto's biggest issue is their poor marketing. They make really great phones then they drop the ball in marketing it.
Anyone ever use a JUIX/Motomagik OS phone will laugh at all others. Unfortunately it is only available in 4 phones at the moment. Look for a detailed review for the Rokr E2 (it's the OS thats amazing) It actually has things smartphones never thought about.
If Moto shuts it's doors it will shock me. It wouldn't take much for Motorola to be back in the game by the end of the year.
Also people can grip about the V3 all they want, it is still selling. Not to many phones are being sold new for 4yrs.
I will agree they need a fresh new design. They redesigned the OS now work on the form factor. Add better features to ALL Markets.

The fact is no one brand can sell like Motorola V3 Razr sold more than 100 million units for 3 years. Only Nokia 1xxx.

I'm really sorry for Moto but the fact is that there phones were very faulty, i'm sorry for them but there phones are very out of date compared to Samsung and Nokia, Moto V3 had an excelent desing but no mem card and 6 MB memory......:))) , nasty, and the Moto V3x to bulky, the rest of the phones were prety bad in fact they were very out of date, they couldn't keep up withe Samsung, buy the way in my opinion the only thing that keeps Nokia on 1 place is the OS, symbian, Samsung is the best, the only thing wrong about them is the batery life , but if u use a mobile with all of it's features, it's ok if the batery life drops... So sorry Moto........

I don't know what GSM Arena mean with Motorola officially confirmed looking for a buyer. I always read from Motorola Official Website but no one news confirm like GSM Arena confirm with the title "Motorola joins Siemens and Philips?".

Can't believe it. What a shame. Moto phones are good phones -great build quality and call quality - they just need to add more features and get with one good UI and OS. I mean Linux is brilliant but must they have Linux in one phone, Symbian UIQ in another and the Synergy in yet another. It's like they are crawling around desperate and in the dark . Even loyal Moto fans have a hard time with it .

It is really sad to read this kind of article. Motorola cannot understand that RAZR was a chapter in its story, but it is already past. Instead of trying to reproduce the success with similar/identical models, the company should try new alternatives and invest more in technological issues. I was shocked when noticed that V8 and V9 does not offer an e-mail platform! Nowadays a mobile handset is much more than a simple cellphone. Nokia, Apple, Sony Ericsson are leading trends due to their way to break with past and start over and over again.
Moto... you can... forget the 4 letter names (RAZR, KRKR etc) and start a new line based on techonology (HSPA) and real communication (e-mail, SMS/MMS, voice message, voice call, video call etc).

Though Moto can't keep pace with Nokia or Samsung, but what they provide is a developer phone. With moto you can express your imagination and thoughts by modding it to the last. If moto jumps into open source UI, I think it'll be best for both, we'll have a kool looking phone and they'll have a easier UI. Moreover, which phone gives you dedicated GPU other than moto, like moto V3xx, E1000, A780i etc are few to name and all are from moto...so just check...

Motorola's fate got sealed that very moment when it made Abhishek Bachchan -- the eternal loser who NEEDs to hide face behind beard -- their brand ambassador.
There's one thing common between the brand and its ambassador too -- both of them are making money till date by selling "history". History of Star-Tac and history of Amitabh Bachchan. And got nothing to offer in the present to suit the "present time and tense".

Motorola was my first mobile i bought an it was not a bad one but they couldn"t keep up with the pressure from Nokia always bringing out a different mobile nearly every month,Motorola thought the Razor would attract alot of customers but didn"t seem to still compete with not just Nokia but Samsung an Sony ericsson an joining in mobile market an they never moved on an from the Razor which was a big error from the company an hope they can now either get taken over or finally close down an finally admit it mistakes it made for shuting is mobile section down

Finally...
Being stubbornly resisting to adapt to the market has its own price. Glory days are over. RAZR was the peak of Motorola and they can never be able to go back there.
Shame... RAZR's not even that great of a phone, just clever advertising...

motorola never moved with time. i owned a motorola once and hated the UI the instant i picked it up. it didn't last me 3 months before i switched to nokia. from that time i never touched a moto again. but moto can stay alive if they upgrade their UI, camera quality (everybody else has 5mp, they're still have 2mp) and other things like bluetooth, etc. if they go i'll not miss them.

Moto are not BAD phones, but they aren't user friendly... Samsung have the second spot in the market because they are stylish and user friendly.
Nokia have the top spot for similar reasons; stylish, user friendly and have a feature set which is relevant to the time. The fact that they have poor build quality on a number of models and the reliability of them is shocking is therefore generally ignored. Samsung build quality isn't what it used to be, but in terms of reliability? None better.

Motorola has some pretty out-dated features on their phones (almost none of them have wi-fi, 2 megapixel cameras that lack autofocus) but they almost always made solidly constructed and stylish phones. The RAZR2 is one of the best handsets I've ever used. It's rubber and steel design is fantastic, and the call quality is unmatched. However, if they added some other cool features to the device, it would be more desirable. Plus it also doesn't help that they're expensive here in the states, even under 2 year contracts!!!

As sameer rightly said that it was a very heartbreaking news. I was shocked to see this news. I would rather say that MOTOROLA should never give up their hope. You are the people who brought the concept of mobile phones to the world. Before you take any crucial step it would be wise to think twice. MOTOROLA should try to overcome the negativities in your mobile phones and not by simply selling the brand to someone.

not Nokia fault pls... = = nokia really have their Pro in this field....the 1 we should blame is samsung...jus design...useless phone...drop and broke... Nokia is talk about quality, performance and reliability. thats all i need to tell u.. if u still wanna blame Nokia.. u r really "Wu Yao Ke Jiu"(mandrin) means no cure... use ur brian pls...
