If I were also asked, I'd pick a Note 9 instead (though it's wiser to wait a little further for the Note 10+'s prices to drop further), but I can see many interest for this smartphone as well.
And to think that this $400 iPhone would have a chipset that can even beat this year's highest tier Android SoC in raw power makes this an even more compelling offer.
Not to mention how Apple would keep this phone up-to-date in no less than 3 years, which is commonly the longest support that any Android OEM can provide to their high end offerings only. This means it could be used for much longer, and so the value after many years would remain high due to the quality that it serves. Unless you are great at manipulating your phone, then you can install custom ROMs on your Android phone if the software support has already ended, otherwise people would rather not mess around and just use the phone right out of the box until it no longer works.

I love this so much but way the one camera ?! This is bas because you can't take any portrait picture with this. :(

Sorry but Galaxy s10e has the same footprint with 5.8". Unless it has great battery life.. Who knows. Or if they managed to put 2 front firing speakers. Headphone jack?

I really like the idea of switching to iOS for a while, just to try something different and get back into jailbreaking again. Haven't been anywhere near iOS since the iPhone 4 and a lot has changed since then. Just hope the bezels are at least a bit narrower than the iPhone 8, otherwise it will look laughably outdated in 2020.

Screen will be 4.7" for it aims at better one-hand usability. Apple doesn't expect you to use it for gaming or watching 4K HDR videos, rather it would work out as a great compact phone that you can use if you don't intend to do those things and all you ever do on a smartphone is for basic smartphone usages.
At $400, this phone will offer a CPU performance that not even the most expensive Android devices could match, let alone defeat. If that's not enough for you to buy this thing, then no need to put too much hate on this thing, because this one is at least guaranteed no less than 3 years worth of software support from Apple officially, which, for the same timespan, the highest end Android devices would get their software support terminated by their manufacturer.
While this won't win any awards for the best in many things, the fact that Apple is actually offering something this worthy of a phone that could satisfy most users' primary needs without breaking the bank is actually a nice move from them.

The outdated design is a bit of a bummer but given the fact that the device's overall size will still be significantly lower than that of any other smartphone on the market this might lead to me switching to iOS.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2020They didn’t put the a13 in the ipad pro so most likely it’s... moreDepends, normally low end models have low storage options. But given nowadays i highly doubt they will make a A12 for this. All will use the same cpu to save cost. But the difference is storage.
So i think this one is 64GB / 128GB only replacing current ip8. Same with 11, it doesn't have 512GB.

This will obliterate the competition if it's priced like that or even lower! I'm actually eyeing this. Hope they'll reduce the bezels though

The 9+ is no point at all as its huge body is capped with only 5.5" screen. At least trim the bezel :(

This could've been a good phone had they made a new modern design for it. Instead, they are using old 2014 design with huge bezels on a 2020 phone... That is honestly sad.
