So you rotate between macro, wide, ultrawide, etc then the zoom / telephoto would be optical.

Main sensor focusing are usually limited to 4cm. Sure u can cropped it after taken, but the distortion angle are not ideal the limited FL.

These are some of my samples taken by vanilla Mate 20, using 'Super Macro' on its UWA lens. - https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1C3GixmJhB6aIGHFw7o5tf1yblJdptYgR
Yes, the spider sitting on my jeans pants lol. The details are limited because of its hardware, but i've seen way way superior macro taken by P30 Pro.

I just thought you or whoever said basically in general that bigger sensors can't do macro as good.
I didn't mean I know how to make the macro any better on a phone or how to incorporate it on the main sensor.

I thought I was just adding an opinion about sensor size in general.
I know nothing about phone cameras as they don't appeal to me, I like slr cameras because I feel more involved in taking photos plus I like the maintenance side of them.

Anyway I'll butt out of commenting on here , I apologise for not having a profile or username, I don't tend to register anywhere other than the basics where I have friends.

Also isn't it obvious that main camera's close-up shots will be more detailed than 2MP macro cameras out there ?
I can confidently say that S20 ultra's 108MP close-up shots can capture more details than any macro camera (or macro claim feature you mentioned) available in the market.

I think you know simple things about smartphones.
Like the main sensor has around 25mm focal length and it's not changeable like camera.
Now how can you make the main sensor better for macro photography ? Just tell me this.

For your information. I wasn't explaining her how macro photography works. She was wondering why Note 10's macro image is better than the P40 pro. I answered to that question.
I kinda hate to reply to guys like you who has no name and came into the middle of a conversation without knowing initial topic and then comment irrationally just to show how knowledgeable they are.

The quality is high though, especially when using the x2/x3/x5 toggle. Oneplus 7t use the same method afterwards. The so dedicated 'macro' lens on other brands is just pure BS using 2-5mp along with abysmal quality.

Sadly Huawei ditch it as its newer UWA starting Mate 30 series using those Cine Lens thats focus on video.
