moon, 01 Apr 2020When you speak, it clearly displays how small your brain is... moreListen kid, I don't know who you think you are, but you clearly know nothing about me.
The FIRST THING I literally said about that is that, despite being probably a April fool, is that it have been tester a while ago, AND I even got further in the same idea explaining how laser data transition could be implemented to improve it.

I just said that not only it is fricking revealed a damn April 1th and this is unlikely to be implemented and it can't work IN ITS CURRENT FORM.
Its like when cars were first being introduced (the first cars were electric) someone said they on April 1th they can be powered by hamster spinning wheels with generators attached to them, yeah sure, infinite power, it seem brilliant, but does it really work ?

Here we talk about an EXPENSIVE tech, that for regular customers require too many manipulation to even BEGIN to work, AND that in the proposed form it is not practical as it require a direct line of sight from a SINGLE point of emission to a SINGLE point of reception in a device with straight surfaces and placed right in one of them while the logic thing to do would be to place it directly in an angle, like in the display for example, on 4 sides to compensate for cases and other issues.
AND the laser is way too powerful to be legally allowed, that's not a fricking tech that can evolve, that's a scientific fact, you can't make a 10w visible laser that won't be a HUGE safety hasard !
Considering that your eyes but also glasses and lenses do reflect light, it is crazy to make a light based beacon for the emitter to find the phone.

I actually am an inventor and taht's my job to create future tech, for exemple :
_I have idea like portless wired USB and Jack.
_Safe conductive and non position dependent contact wireless charging which is superior to induction one as it does not generate lot of heat and have energy loss as induction do.
_I am working on a 100% light based computer which don't use the classical transistors.
_I invented a wired and wireless network protocole, system and architecture which can put to shame optical fiber and 5G.
_I invented a concept of battery swapping for EV which is way superior to those curently proposed and it also come with all the logistic, production and commercial plan behind it.
_I found a really simple and cheap way to boost solar panel efficiency using a highly available and cheap, 100% natural plant based thing which can lets go through most of the sun's spectrum that is turned into power and block most of the spectrum which cause heat and have lower energy production benefit.
_Hell I even think about an FTL drive using quantum probability wave function which can also work as a working alternative to the fictive entangled pair of particle long range communication AND transmit power wirelessly in real time LITERALLY anywhere in the universe, though it is more a concept idea than a real proposal unlike other of my ideas.
_Talking about quantum interactions, I also imagined a protocole to possibly to communicate with parallel reality using a merging and interfering probability wave function on the already created one during the double slit experiments.

That's a tiny part of all my idea, I could write a book out of all the idea I have if I describe them as shortly as I did here, most of those idea except the portless one in this list that I already publicly wrote about in this very website because the industry is already coming in that direction anyway, I am guarding them safe until my main invention is done and which will give me the fund to make all my other idea a reality.

Tell me again how small is my brain, how I am short sighted in term of future tech and how my mind is limited when it come to stuff like that, I may literally be the most imaginative, versatile and inventive person you heard about.
Try me, give me some limitation and a strict theme and I'll give you a wireless energy transmission concept from it which is better than the proposed one from Oppo.

That was a promise from Apple a few years ago!
To date, they haven't even managed to launch a "normal" charging pad... loool.
Such a funny discussion here from noisy experts as it seems to me.

sorry to say this, but the end of the video says 'for april fools' and the bit before that says 'This is a concept, but definitely possible' (loosely translated).

Wouldn't curved screens and waterfall displays be best for this?

Looks like the impractical argument of curved screens is dying slowly from a connectivity/reception point of view

I don't think this is a prank either

LilPhone, 01 Apr 2020It's not a prank, but I do not think initial implementation... moreIt is a prank, I mean, c'mon, this is a unlikely thing showcased on April 1th...
Plus, to be correctly done, you don't use a visible laser, you need to put it on more than a single area, if possible on the 4 edges, here it is clearly not even compatible with phone cases as it will decrease maximum relative angle, if it was on the 4 edges of the display, yeah, maybe.
But can you imagine this tech which only work if the phone is on direct line of sight at the right angle without obstacles with something that will be expensive (the precision of the targeting system need to be at least as complex as laser printer which is expensive to make), require some home adaptation as you need both to attach it on the ceiling and provide a power source, which isn't an easy thing.
Now if we talked about a device put in a room's corner with reflectors you attach on the room's angles, yeah, it make more sense already as it can cover a way larger surface, angles and don't require to bring power up there.

But more importantly, a 5-10W laser ? C'mon, a 50MW laser is already a safety hasard for the eyes and a 200MW laser can already set things on fire without requiring to be focused and damage eyes only through its reflection...
So yeah, it is probably a prank, there are too many issues with this concept as it is presented.

                                  Maybe you are the fool.

Think about the real-life usage rather than the sophistication of this tech. Consider the pricing of the handset, as Oppo has made many phones costing more than its competitors when its brand image isn't strong enough like Samsung and Apple. It only works at a distance of 1m and if Oppo charges a huge premium for it, is it worth it?

Keep on following the tech hype, but you'll end up wasting your money and time for it.

This is probably a prank, the technology is totally faisable and tests about focused energy transfert have been already done a while ago, and using laser we could even transfert data way faster than even optical fiber...

But even there, I don't really imagine a smartphone brand being awesome enough to really implement something that great...
But what's really a shame, is that they showed a flat display (almost no curves on the edges) and no notch/punch hole, which would have been actually even more appreciated than the long range wireless charging tech.

Once again Oppo proving that they are pioneers in Battery charging technology.
