I can bet it's just another April fool's prank.

PlayerDead, 01 Apr 2020Looks like a April Fool prank. Not really. I already commented about something called WattUp, check that out.

To people who think this an April Fool's joke from Oppo, please search for WattUp by a company called Energous. https://www.energous.com/

Terry, 01 Apr 2020Actually this technology is in works but the issue is that it do... moreThe distance doesn't has to be 10 meters like in the video it can be just 1 meter and it will be waaay more useful than current gimmicky wireless charging

EskeRahn, 01 Apr 2020Indeed. With cameras behind displays now, it would not be unthin... moreIt will be good enough if it can sustain battery percentage long enough to make a difference (say 1% drops like 10min in heavy usage like graphics intensd games)

LilPhone, 01 Apr 2020Technology over real life usage. Seems like a gimmick to me. I b... moreIf it can charge my phone from a distance, Oppo can take my money.

Hopefully this is no joke and we are really closer to true wireless charging unlike today's pad charging, it doesn't have to be 10M even just 1 meter enough to make it damn useful

April's foll?

Daany, 01 Apr 2020If it's not April Fools, that and only that is the true meaning ... moreExactly, this is closer to true wireless charging, I hope that video is not for April's fool.

Namelesss, 01 Apr 2020Nice April fools! A phone that recharges itself with solar ener... moreIndeed. With cameras behind displays now, it would not be unthinkable with a solar panel under the display. Even if not enough to generally charge the device in reasonable amount of time (even with the sun in Zenith), it at the least could prolong the time between conventional charges.
(Whether it would be worth the added thickness and weight is another story, but for some it might)

Why would they invest in an awesome video for a joke? The video looks amazing and a lot of work was put into it. It would be a waste to make just for a joke.

air charging is real, real world usage may differ though. Its probably EM radiation, like microwave or laser, so its hard to use safely like when the device is in hand.

Namelesss, 01 Apr 2020Nice April fools! A phone that recharges itself with solar ener... moreYeah, I can't wait to see everyone with panels on their backs.

Dude how is Actual Wireless charging a gimmick? In reality today's wireless charging (Which requires plugging a pad and then placing the phone it, same as just plugging the phone in place is the real gimmick)

YOU ARE A HATEFUL ANGRY TROLL (Log off)

Actually this technology is in works but the issue is that it doesn't provide sufficient watts, and as distance increases power delivery decline exponentially

Namelesss, 01 Apr 2020Nice April fools! A phone that recharges itself with solar ener... moreThat would lead to temperature related problems dude. Nobody wants to cook their phone under the scorching sun.

Nice April fools!
A phone that recharges itself with solar energy would have been more plausible
