Huawei says it lost over $60 million on the Mate Xs foldable phone

09 April 2020
Apparently, the phone is so expensive to manufacture that even at its exuberant price, Huawei is still hemorrhaging money.

Can't lose money on something you actually stole and haven't invested in developing.

YUKI93, 09 Apr 2020Maybe Huawei is going for the same direction here, we never... moreBecause it was tuned by Yamaha.
The only issue was it's weight.
It was more of a US musle car rather than a supercar for the weight.

This is why Apple make more profits, they make sure new technologies aren't available on their products until R&D costs are covered, either by using old technology and design (meet the "new" iPhone SE 2020), or simply by increasing prices (iPhone X back when 1000$ phones where considered a crazy thing)

And yet people wonder why LG's DualScreen solution exists. Honestly, I'd be more than happy to have the new V60 ThinQ 5G with detachable DualScreen instead of any smartphone with a foldable screen. Oh, I should not forget a stylus: https://youtu.be/gnHCb3rvwyM

they are lying...max it would cost 500 EUR to produce...They just wanted to play their gimmick card and failed...Consumers easily believe to them ...

This situation where Huawei risking in for Mate Xs foldable phone, reminds me of Toyota-Lexus had taken a lot of loss of money just to developed and created the Lexus LFA to hit the street a decade ago, to prove the dare highly-innovation supercar of Toyota, which till this date, one of the most sophisticated cars that Toyota ever built and hit the road.

Misfit2Fields, 09 Apr 2020Shouldn't had made it so damn pricey. So, your suggestion for Huawei to not make a loss on those phones is to sell those phones even cheaper, where the current price is still under the break-even price?
