17 May, 2012
The US version of the phone does not use the Apple patent for which it is currently being barred from the US.

If true, it does suggest that the relationship between Apple, the US Courts and the US Customs should be looked at. Yes everyone knows the Americans are particularly protectionist, but this is taking it a bit too far. If the Yanks are going to play like this, then the Far Eastern manufacturers should get together and refuse to supply Apple and they'd go bust within a couple of months.

Trade War, bring it on.

Apple only did this because they know that One X and similar devices will sell better than iPhones. And, any One X user can simply flash a custom ROM on their device and get this feature lol. As Stifler said, better patent your own name, or you might get sued. Maybe I should patent an apple, some sort of weird apple, and call it iApple, and sue Apple for stealing ALL of my ideas, they didn't exist before an apple did.

Can I patent the act of breathing, waste excreting, and blinking? I'll be a trillionaire in no time.

If Apple felt at all secure with their own sales and market share, they wouldn't feel the constant need to attempt to supress competitiors in the industry.

Competition should always stimulate market growth, not stifle it.

You patent something like this, what do we expect next? Probably, patented alphabets. And oh yes, patented colors too. I better go patent my name before Apple does, where I will have to pay for using my name. My personal advice, everybody do patent your names and that of your loved ones before the worst happens. Apple obviously has gone mad...

All that's left to do is for someone to patent the concept of _thinking_ ("process to derive ideas and arrive at conclusions based on pre-existing instances thereof" etc.), and he can start rolling in royalties from the whole world. I'm highly confident the patent would be granted, seeing as how the concept will surely be found novel by the patent office - they don't seem to be aware of it's existence at all.

It's great HTC found a quick way around this Apple childish behaviour. Shame on Apple for taking not only on HTC but on the customers. Apple is just a bully!
