Removing Xperia naming from their phone is like stripping down Galaxy from Samsung phone name or iPhone from Apple's one. It costs a lot just to takeaway "a name brand" for that. And their new Xperia lineup is the exact one from Alpha and RX Cyber-shot series with Mark as iteration generation.

That one keeps 85% the specs of Xperia 1 II or Premium family, but tone down version (yes, this one equipped with FHD+). Well, and as for Xperia 1 II, keep it 4K. Sony meant for their Premium lineup as its showcase model.
And here's the 3 main reason Sony using 4K on their halo flagship smartphone since 2015:
1.) 4K resolution gained higher momentum in 2015, especially in TV and Cinemas. Sony is one of them.
2.) Snapdragon 810 and successor of it started to support 4K display and they have Bravia technology as base for it
3.) People were complaining why Sony flagship don't have QHD display in 2014-15 and Sony give them outside their expectations with the 4K on Z5P.
So, when Xperia 1 Mark III comes out next year, don't ever expect the screen resolution will change from 4K. HRR possibly, but other than, no.

Other just put fancy names to fool people and try to be better.
Sony and OnePlus do not show yellowish colours like Samsung phones.

Sony half-assed did this:
Great UHD (not full ultra hd - 1644 x 3840) display but stupidly w/out a high-refresh-rate
Sony is gaming company but this device has no PlayStation/Stadia enhancements/features to compete against other gaming centric devices.
Sony also leads in camera sensors but again, this device has no 8K video recording option, etc. compared to its rivals.
Sony also leads in audio but this device has no real DAC compared to LG's V series.
On and on. It seems like Sony just does not gaf anymore when it comes to its smartphones/IoT portfolios but unfortunately for Sony, that can go both ways, sadly.

Samsung have really good, bright screens in S20 series (even in standard S20). If is similar screen in quality, it will be good. But i think it's LG made OLED in this Xperia 1-2? So we will see. But, until then, Make.Belive :D

Best Buy has sold Sony phones so maybe they'll sell a version with all the US 5G bands (even band 71 which, for now, appears to be missing).

Hi sony more than 1000 dollar I will not buy xperia mark 2.If you want improve your sales,please make under 1000 dollar flagship smartphones.

So many people discount a phone because it doesn't have the best fast charge or a bunch of hardly used or near pointless gimmicky lenses.
This phone is one of few complete packages, 5k mah, great screen, easy to reach finger print sensor and a 3.5mm jack, I don't care for crappy wireless in ears or want to charge another device all the time.
Sony have listened, many xperia fans wanted more battery and the return of the headphone jack. You do not need a god darn 108mp 100X zoom lens, they'll always be worse than a good quality dslr and they're honestly just marketing gimmicks.
Another useless gimmick is the high refresh rate screens, you're flicking through menus, the smoothness is largely determined by you network connection loading in the next post or story not the screen itself, save the high refresh for gaming phones or monitors.
Think about the overall package, don't chase gimmicks. I hope Sony do well with this, if my Note 9 craps out for whatever reason, this Sony Xperia 1 V2 and Motorola Edge+ will be my go to options.

Pentile OLED more than LCD needs higher resolution because of less subpixels. Same resolution LCD and pentile OLED is not the same when it comes to density and detail.
