Smithravi, 14 Apr 2020I think Sony uses LG OLED on their TVs and Xperia. Are you ... moreThe XPERIA 1 (2019) uses Samsung manufactured OLED display
The OLED on XZ3 is LG I believe

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2020When do samsung phones plan to proper display whites, green... moreIf that was the case, the entire mobile community would be talking about those flaws.
But it's only you talking about it. Maybe you need to get your eyes replaced and project that hatred elsewhere.

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2020Samsung is 4x. Not 10x as someone here demands. But that 4x is behind IMX 586 sensor.
Much better quality of images especially in low light.
Xperia has weak 3x telephoto from small sensor which won't be used in low light like other flagships from last year with 2x-3x optical zoom m
        Technically useless.

Samsung displays have been universally considered to best on smartphones for a decade now.

The CS35L41 is the industry’s first 55 nm smart audio amplifier solution with integrated DSP. This device features a mono 5.3 W boosted Class D amplifier that provides very loud audio without compromising sound quality, high efficiency and the lowest noise and quiescent power consumption of any amplifier in its class.

Voltage and current sensing feedback at the speaker output and battery improves the accuracy of the amplifier and integrated algorithms. Speaker protection algorithms enable maximum loudness by allowing the amplifier to safely drive high output power while ensuring that the speaker’s thermal and excursion limits are not exceeded.

Audio enhancement algorithms provide equalization, compression and psychoacoustic improvements to fine-tune the speaker to improve clarity, loudness and frequency response while maintaining the sound quality of the audio. A cutting-edge battery management system adapts to speaker, audio and battery conditions to intelligently regulate battery current without sacrificing loudness or audio quality.

The CS35L41 provides this level of performance within a package smaller than any smart amplifier in its class, and almost half the size of other leading DSP smart amps.

Cirrus Logic’s SoundClear Playback provides the ability to fine tune the CS35L41 to the specific micro speaker being used in the mobile system. Equalization, compression
and psychoacoustic enhancement algorithms improve sound clarity and increase loudness. Playback filtering compensates for the unique frequency response of the speaker while eliminating pre-ringing found in conventional linear phase filters.
These algorithms are integrated into the on-chip DSP and prevent additional workloads from being placed on the application processor.

The CS35L41 preserves battery life using an advanced battery management system in addition to its Class H, boost and extremely low quiescent current.
Class H DC-DC converter boosts the supply while maintaining higher efficiency than the Class G boost regulators commonly used in other smart amplifiers.

The battery management system predictively adapts to changing audio, speaker and battery conditions by intelligently regulating battery current to protect the amplifier from drawing high currents that can cause a system brownout if managed incorrectly.

By predictively managing the demand on the battery, the amplifier is able to maximize loudness and audio quality while minimizing the power impact to the mobile device.

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2020Are both sim slots 5G capable? Anyone know?Yes, but not same time.
If you use one sim with 5G, the other will work 4G only.
No matter the position of the sim inside the phone.

Uncle Scrooge, 15 Apr 2020Xperia 1 and Xperia 1 II also don't have real 2160p 4K UHD ... moreIt is 4K, not UHD.

                  Even 3840 x 1600 is a type of 4K.
4K does not need to be 2160 on one side.

                  5040 x 2160 is 5K.

                          Maybe 3580-3700mAh.

                          5.8" 21:9 might be similar to 5.5 16:9.
So battery of 3600mAh would last a lot.

Smithravi, 14 Apr 2020I think Sony uses LG OLED on their TVs and Xperia. Are you ... moreOLED panels for TV and for mobile phones are two very different things. Incomparable technologies if you ask me. Yes Sony uses LG flagship panel for their A series TV but when it comes to mobile they use Samsung's pentile OLED panels. These panels have diamond pattern between unequally sized RGB subpixels, due to that diamond pattern shape there is a lot more gap between subpixels than it is with your regular WRGB OLED TV panel. Bottom line is mobile OLED panels are crap pretty much, that infinite contrast and true black comes with way too many compromises that you can only experience if you use it.

NotAnOpinion, 14 Apr 2020In a way, you're right but on the other side of that coin, ... moreSony has most of the things you've listed.

They do not have the hardware high refresh rate they do have software frame interpolation like all the TVs do it. But that is besides the point, HRR ability of the display is a hot marketing term right now but actually is very secondary just like peak brightness when it comes to what constitutes quality display. Sony's displays on mobile phones are best in the business rivaled only by Apple and Huawei.

Sony does have gaming enhancements in term of very feature rich gaming mode suite. They also have Playstation streaming app which was exclusive to Xperia for a very long time.

Xperia phones always did video a lot better than stills. They were the first to implement HDR video recording (that none of the blogs actually test when they talk about video even though HDR video recording is how you should film everytime). My 2018 XZ2 makes video that can crap on many 2020 so called flagships and their video ability. When it comes to 8K sensors that are used to shoot 8K on S20/S20+ are not made for video, maybe 108mp sensor in S20 Ultra is made for video, I don't know, but those on S20/S20+ are not which is why there is a lot of edge fringe between subjects in the video and so on. Yes it has great detail but everything else sucks when it comes to moving images.

Sony like all others uses Snapdragon DAC and LG to my knowing is the only manufacturer that has dedicated DAC.

And in the end differences between QHD+ and Sony 21:9 4K are really minimal. No point of complaining against 4K when your favorite brand has only 700 pixels less.

Also Xperia has the best colour accuracy covering most parts of BT.2020 while others can only DCI-P3.
