Samsung is not stupid.
They know chinese brands will pay whatever they want, besides no benefit of having this kind of hardware.

People are complaining... But I don't care! I want that 600mp in the market as soon as possible, so that other camera features will go down to the budget segment for a cheaper price tag...
As long as the 600mp have adequate sensor size it's fine. Binning and AI Processing will surely improve overtime.

Have they tried the phone and compared it in real life or did they just heard or watched a (paid) reviewer 'criticize' the phone and then jumped on the bandwagon?
We are forgetting the fact that samsung is developing these tech and putting pressure to every other tech companies to come up with better solutions. Even if the ultra is bested by other phones whats good is they forced other companies to make their phones better which is better for the consumers.

Real need for a mobile camera is a best quality 1" sensor with best optics clubbed together with an innovative photo software. Indeed a 5x wide to tele optical zoom.
In other words, there are a.lot of pocketable cameras with 1" sensors. Add a nice smart mobile to them. We will definitely have a wonderful combo.!
All foldable smart phones are well received despite their bulk. For sure a combo as suggested above will be well received by people.
Will the camera manufacturers like Nikon, Canon, Sony jump into this Combo. I remember there was a Panasonic smart phone with 1"sensor in it. A great product with advance thinking

Most people didn't buy the Ultra because it is... moreIm not defending the Ultra, ive had my share of things i wish they have improved - heating and camera focus to name a few, but they did through the upgrades. Is the phone perfect, definitely no (i wish it was wider).
But for taking photos, I am happy with it. I like that they take shots when you click it and not ask you to wait for a few seconds to hold the phone steady (ahemmm huawei). My cat is always impatient and with my other phones the cat has left before i can complete the shot. And compared to my all other phones, it takes the best pictures. Is it a worthy upgrade, definitely.
And im also definitely not a Samsung fan, im a fan of tech in general - im ashamed to admit it but i change phones every 3 to 6 months (Mi note 10, Mate 20x 5G, honor view 20, samsung m30s, samsung m20, huawei y9 2019, mi mix 2, samsung note 8, the list goes on and on) cause i bore easily, and to tell you honestly most of these phones are just the same.
I would love to have my hands on Find X2 Pro, a Mi 10 Pro or a P40Pro plus, but these phones are announced without release dates (not yet at least in UAE) - that for me is gimmickry and lacks respect to international users.

Oh look, Samsung is getting a bigger e-penis than everyone else - whoopee doodah.
A big dong without girth ain't gonna get oohhs and aahhs from the unfortunate female.
Similarly, a smartphone with a large sensor size (determines MP), but with a narrow aperture (determines f-stop value) will result in lacklustre and washed out images.
In addition, the larger the quoted megapixel, the more computation required to post-process the image (as is common with most smartphones), and the more data space required to store the photo.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 was a highly desirable dream phone (and it had the best OS) that took immaculate pictures. Everyone needs to learn from it, rather than seeking bragging rights with increasing meaningless megapixels.

600 MP can binning into 49 Bayer to form 12.2 MP
500 MP can binning into 100 Bayer to form 5 MP

I think in its not all about the megapixels as we know. I think they need to concentrate on the lenses as well. Question why are Huawei best camera phones simply they use Leica lenses. Now if the S20 series had Leica lenses or maybe Canon. Then we would see something outstanding pictures even on low megapixel phones. I.M.O

Oh, and you don't need to buy something to know it's bad. Just a simple google search would tell you it's camera has multiple hardware issues, and it's performance is highly disappointing compared to it's rivals.
