Cant even record 10bit when even phones from 2018 can.
10bit is always better than 8bit, same way 12bit tops 10bit.
They just apply tricks for better background exposure.

Basically Motorola flagships are again dead.

Anonymous, 22 Apr 2020Phone Arena says Edge+ does not have SD slot. Edge+ has I... moreAccording to this PhoneArena Article: https://www.phonearena.com/news/Motorola-Edge-Plus-official-announcement-specs-comparison_id123999

The Edge+ indeed doesn't have a SD Slot, and neither phone has any IP certification...

A bit disappointing to be honest. OnePlus 8 Pro is cheaper & has better specs aside from the lack of a headphone jack & the primary camera sensor.

Everything seems good, except 2 things - prices and Android updates.

The day Lenovo took over Motorola, the updates have become uncertain. And that's the reason that I gave up on buying anymore Moto ( my last ones were Moto G and G turbo).

It's simple logic that most of buyers would apply - paying up 500+ and 1000+ for handsets which promises only one next major OS update?
In that case automatically people will go for iphone SE or upcoming Pixel4a. These have at least 3 years of major software updates. And cost wise far less than what Moto asks. Agreed iphone SE has no 5g capabilities, but it hardly matters for those who don't have 5g yet ( specially India, which is one of the biggest market and no 5g yet )

Plus Apple is offering it's best SoC and latest OS in iPhone SE.
Had Motorola opted for Android One program, it would have helped. But then again No No No Android One.

You know what makes this phone stand out from the rest of the flagships? IT HAS A HEADPHONE JACK. Also microSD support.

I can't be the only one that looks at the camera specs, and thinks "and...?". At the end of the day, results count. I tend to ignore the numbers as they usually have little significance when the finished photos appear. iPhone and Pixel, both great stills devices. Apple also has the video game. The rest, are usually clutching at straws. 50 this, 100 that, means nothing.

dbjungle, 22 Apr 2020I'm going to challenge every company that is not Apple, Sam... moreOP8 Pro is more than $800 in China. If you put the best pieces you can order, your device will be expensive. Retail price of mi9 was about $460, now just the hardware of mi10 pro costs that already.

Want a sub $700 flagship? Use ufs2.1, ddr4x ram, midrange sensors like imx582/586/isocell gm1, 2 MP macro instead of zoom camera, no IP rating, mono speaker, gorilla glass 4 or 5, usb2.X, bad cheaper screen like midranges from Samsung/xioami/motorola ..... Make a midrange with SD865.

Now if you want a QHD/4K HDR screen, IP68, stereo speakers with dolby, 8/12GB ddr5, 256/512GB UFS3.0/3.1, Qi charging, reverse Qi charging, strong cam hardware, gorilla 6, sd slot etc .. You need to charge more than that, by far ....

This is why I never buy phone of current generations. Phones of 2020 will still be pretty capable in 2021 and 2022, but for half price they are now.

All Moto flagships have received 2 OS updates. I don't think that'll change now.

Moto phones run on stock Android anyway (with slight customization), so there's no reason why they should have difficulty releasing 2 OS updates.

You can get much better phones for that price range. Should've been $799 for the plus. Global being €1,199... Not going to sell well I guess.

I think pricing is little too high but better than Nokia 8.3 waiting for full review

I'm going to challenge every company that is not Apple, Samsung or Huawei to try charging a bit less than $800 per phone if they want to make sales. Not mandatory, but highly encouraged. OnePlus and Google may be able to do it as well.

Well...at the very least (despite not having an IP rating) it has a headphone jack and microSD card slot unlike Oppo, Xiaomi, and OnePlus.

Being exclusive to Verizon, I shall look forward to the US release of the vanilla Edge. Those specs are pretty good so here's hoping that version supports mmWave and is cheap enough.
