Anonymous, 25 Apr 2020Oneplus Z aka upcoming Oneplus 8 Lite with decent specs.I am highly anticipating this phone but only if it comes with a Snapdragon chipset. Maybe last years 855+ will be good.

AnonD-906854, 25 Apr 2020Do you even know what 80/20 rule is? Are you asking me if I know what the 80/20 rule means ? Sure I do. ;--D

The 80/20 rule states that 80% of the OnePlus 8 purchasers (which conveniently reside in China and India) pay a lower subsidised price, while the remaining 20% of purchasers (in the US/UK/EU) pay the higher inflated price in order to subsidise the cost for their Indian and Chinese brethren.

This 80/20 rule is also known as the "OnePlus Principle", as well as "the law of the vital few in the West subsidise for those in the East".

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2020How abou Oneplus Z for 450 euro?Maybe you were trying to say One Plus 7?
Anyway, as I write in my comment and also based on the initial comment from another user which I responded to, that is a previous year model. Even though is still a good phone, the discussion was based on phone models from current year.
Of course you can get any phone from previous years. Even an iphone from previous years will cost you 500-600EUR, that doesn't mean Apple has cheap phones.
Also, One Plus 7 cost now only 450EUR, because its starting price was 650EUR. I am pretty sure next year you will not get an One Plus 8 with only 450EUR (new that is).

Abhi Dahiya, 25 Apr 2020I like how OnePlus is being criticized here taking the aide... moreThe problem with One Plus, compare to other manufacturers, is that they make only few models per year (2-4). Up until now it was ok (because they were cheaper alternatives to other phones), but now, when they charge so much money for their phones, they have only expensive offers. Yes, you can buy less expensive One Plus phones, but only from previous years. They are becoming more like Apple, the only thing with Apple is that they are a bigger company, with more costumers and also way better and stable operating system in the long run.
Other Android companies like Xiaomi or Samsung have 900-1000EUR phones, but they also offer 200-300EUR phones. One Plus doesn't do that anymore, and of course when you want to play only in the big league you got to deliver. Sadly for One Plus, they do not do that.
Probably this little maneuver from them (playing only in the big league), will cost them everything. For the sake of competition is not a good thing for a company to disappear, but also, I think they become too greedy and only after profit, so in a way, it is their own fault.

Anders, 25 Apr 2020I keep saying it about these overpriced phones, particularl... moreCrazy talk. The real reason is, pop up stores doesn't matter and covid showed it.

I keep saying it about these overpriced phones, particularly from Chinese brands that are basically unknown in Europe.

No one in Europe is going to pay €1,000 for a OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo etc.

That's Apple and Samsung territory. Brands that people know and trust.

None of them have taken Europe seriously with the exception of Huawei but it looks like they're gonna take a hit now too due to lack of GMS

The report says, "OnePlus downsizes its workforce in UK, France, and Germany by up to 80%".

How about OnePlus follow the 80/20 rule, by downsizing the price of the OnePlus 8 Series by 20% in the US/UK/EU, allowing the price to be more in line with that in India and China ?

I like how OnePlus is being criticized here taking the aide of "lower sales", "underdelivering", "high prices" when it's actually happening with every manufacturer out there.

All manufacturers have increased prices to crazy numbers. Even Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro costs $900 now a days! Yes, that much. Who will spend that much on a Xiaomi? Samsung and Huawei have gone $1400+

Smartphone Sales have already halved around the world due to Corono Virus. People are out of jobs. Earnings have plummeted.

OnePlus is a brand operating on lesser margins. They can't afford to keep high workforce in areas where it's sales aren't very high. That's the reason for downsizing.

I like how everyone just pounces on OnePlus on every possible sight but others are given a Free Pass!
