I'll appreciate these 3 things to consider this phone:
Flat display (I really hate curved screens)
Punch hole cut is on the most left corner (makes it easier on the eye to ignore its presence)
Battery >= 4000

Midrange market is firmly under the control of Xiaomi and the likes so OnePlus's attempts are probably gonna end up in failure. And its not helping that OnePlus is a lazy phone making company as they only release 2-3 phones max every year.

Back then, OnePlus One/2, was the mid ranger, aim to compete with Mi and mid to high ranger of Samsung, LG. So OnePlus X was meant to be to target lower mid ranger, aim to compete with Redmi Note series, though it failed miserably.
Now, OnePlus 8 Pro has aim to the sky, a full flagship with full flagship price, hence OnePlus Z is supposed to carry the original OnePlus One/2 legacy that has already abandoned.

AnonD-833125, 28 Apr 2020Depends on what this phone will bring to the table. If they... moreI agree, but phones get released as bad value propositions all the time. I highly doubt OP is going to release a phone severely undercutting the OP8 and OP8 Pro without forcing the buyer to make some big trade offs.

I'm sure that OP 7T and 7T Pro and even 7 Pro will be better purchases. But for do that better watch elsewhere as other brands offer better phones now for those prices. Anyways for OnePlus fans that don't want to pay the overpriced 8 series. At least they now know that previous year models are the way to go and the best bet for them. About all if you want custom ROMs later as with Dimensity forget that. Mediatek never release their source codes.

If they will leave behind too many features just to cut costs, then people will be better with a One Plus 7T or One Plus 7 Pro from previous year. I think, if you can get this phones, they shouldn't cost more than 500EUR.
I mean, One Plus 7T is a very good phone, except maybe camera. This One Plus Z should be at least the same, otherwise will not be worth it, at 500EUR.

Truther, 28 Apr 2020Meh. It'd be sh*t. I can tell. And a 60hz panel most likelyOnePlus said last year all their phones will have at least a 90Hz display post the 7 Pro. All rumours have said a 6.4' Amoled 90Hz display too.

OnePlus are bringing out a 'lite' phone out of necessity, with their once flagship-killer phones having moved up the pecking order in terms of price.
The release of the OnePlus Z shall fill a void once occupied by the non-Pro OnePlus model.
Though the OnePlus 8 Pro is an exceptional phone, punters shall not be getting value for money - at least those in the US/UK/EU. For the Chinese and Indians amongst us, they're still getting an 8 Series at a competitive price.
We should anticipate the OnePlus Z to be graced with non-flamboyant features, making it a 'meh' phone, competing with similar mid-rangers. To its advantage, it shall be endowed with the elegance of OxygenOS.

Oneplus really needs this Z to be a good phone. Xiaomi with the Mi 10 Pro and Realme with X50 Pro 5G etc are killing the game right now and Oneplus upped the prices a lot...

I think this phone will be a banger if it's priced right. Their main phones are getting expensive year after year. Many og OnePlus users will like this phone for its price. Also, that SOC looks really nice on paper.

Was the OnePlus X that bad?
For the time when it was released, it seems pretty solid actually.
My main issues with 1+ as of right now is, that they are almost charging Apple prices and giving you the same treatment, but without the premium support.
There's no jack and no micro sd card, funny for a brand that boasted itself as cattering to geeks and alike. No security either, because just you know, this is Android we are talking about and Google doesnt likes security getting on their way of business.
So at this point, and with those prices, I dont see why would someone buy a 1+. There are far better Android options out there, and the iPhone 11 gives you the same treatment with lower price.
