Anonymous, 02 May 2020Thank you GSM Arena for posting this article. I was thinkin... moreAll smartphones collecting data, man...all.Google know.

Tell me one thing: Even phones without GPS of any kind used to run internet. You believe they were not giving privacy? They were, and we called them Symbian OS devices.

Of course, its impossible to keep a traceless phone, but at least we should have control over our browsing data, and personal information, which by this or that excuse is being collected and even sold, and even interconnected.
Today, american company collecting data isn't even considered a breach, even if the user is unaware.

Don't ever use the argument, "we can't have privacy".
We can sir, we can. Only you don't ask for it in huge groups, and get impressed by "modern, intitutive" features.

Root all android phones before actually using them.
Boycott gogle play services and use F-droid and open source apps.

This is not just xiaomi, but pretty much every phone manufacturer and the entire ad-supported android ecosystem.

Perhaps consider working in ad-tech and related domains where such data is sold to, to really understand the extent of this phenomenon.

I read samsung privacy policy, they collect some data related to the phone hardware, the only personal data they have is through samsung account, data that YOU give them directly like your name, phone number... At least they tell their users what they are collecting, unlike xiaomi who was trying to deny.
