if they improved the clockrate, then might as well update the nokia 700 and 701 with either windows phone or android, that way, they can catch up with the competition....

Nokia could actually release an update for the first symbian touch phones that would increase the CPU clock speed from 434mhz to 528mhz or even 600mhz. As of the higher battery life consumption most Symbian users wouldn't mind their phones needed to be charged more often.

I've had Belle FP1(Carla) on my 700 since the beginning of May. What's with this source saying "rolling out shortly"? Even you guys, GSMArena, reported back in April the impending roll out of Belle FP1(Carla)?!
The only thing "new" about this whole new brouhaha is that Nokia is now calling FP1, "Carla". So what really happened is the Carla update that was thought to be major like the Belle update is really nothing more than a few minor corrections. And the same goes for "Donna".
Looks like Nokia reneged on their promise to support Symbian till 2016 and that the 808 is the LAST Symbian phone from Nokia.

Nokia... Open Symbian Foundation back. That's the best way to save this OS.

I've been using Carla for a month now and apart from a few extra widgets, the changes aren't really noticeable. Overall, performance is slightly better and the HTML5 browser score is higher, but I'd say most of the improvements made by Nokia/Accenture were "under the hood" tweaks to the QT/QML code.
Symbian may be dead, but I think Nokia will still develop it, if only as a research and development platform for future disruptions.
S40 will be phased out over the next few years as well, replaced by Meltemi - a very efficient but powerful Meego Linux brew for low end devices.
