Well...
I frankly think that nokia will not simply fuse two phones (N81 and N95) and make a new one.
And who cares of the design?? Its the features that matter.
You people remind of those who refuse to buy N82 due to its looks or will buy the black one with 128MB card NOT the tin canned one with 2GB one.
What i care of in this phones is the BATTERY.
If it survives for more than 6 hours music, i will jump of the empire state building.
Pretty useless having 950mAh whereas N95 8Gb has 1200 but still faces a battery issue.
Nokia, will you release this phone with this battery, NO ONE WILL BUY IT.
People have learnt from the N95 experience(most have right? battery issue)
Hope they pump up the battery.
Design doesnt really matter, and to me it looks pretty good :)

@ Dani and rock
Why do you guys care about my purchases? I don't even know you guys! LOL!
My loyalty lies to Nokia, because they are the ONLY mobile phone manufacturer that fulfills my needs as a techie guy. I want phones focused on features, rather than design.
I agree with most in this forum, who cares about design? Designs get outdated. Features will take a long time. N95 has features that are just recently used, like HSDPA.
PS: Dani, please stop being a hypocrite. You praise Nokia, only to bring them down. I've read some of your posts that you love Nokia and SE.
Wow, you have no sense of decision.

That's it? You're telling me that this is nokia's new flagship phone? You've got to be joking..
This is basically the same pointless garbage that the n82 was, in comparison to the n95 - ooooh zenon flash - who cares! It's still exactly the same as the n95!
If this really is going to be the new n96 then it's definitely a huge let down. Nokia can do better than this.
I want to see a phone with a hardware qwerty keyboard. A large VGA resolution touch screen. XGA output. HSUPA. And for heaven's sake, move on to a faster CPU! That damn 330mhz OMAP2 processor is ancient! Megapixels aren't everything. Basically every decent phone out there has the same multimedia functions as any n-series device, save 3d acceleration. It's time nokia invest in something that's different, exciting, and groundbreaking. They did it with the n95 2 years ago, and they've had plenty of time to do it again. But after all that waiting, this is all we get? It's just another modification of the n95. What a total let down.
Sigh..... Maybe nokia will make up for all this junk with the next big e-series device. I'm crossing my fingers, but maybe i'm giving in to a little too much hope.

unlike most people i do not sleep with my phone so dont care much about the design. the glossy effect is a nice touch. My whole music collection is barely 4gb at most, of which i barely use 1GB at most....
Meh, i like to keep ahead of the game

nokia should have name this one N83 since its similar in appearance as with N81, but feature wise it is definatelya predecessor of N95.
looking forward to this one

It seems pretyy obvious that it's coming to the competition of the iphone 16 gb. but nokia n96 seems pretty ugly from the pictures. its similar to the looks of the n81 , but more squished and splatted out like a fish..which makes it pretty ugly. As the n95 8gb was a huge success, i highly doubt this would sale higher than even the n82.its no competition for the iphone 16gb , this being the advanced model , i still think the n95 could beat the hell out of the iphone 16 gb , and not this n96. sorry nokia , bad disign this time , loaded alot of features , but they all seems useless when the phone looks like a splatted fish.'

GSMA’s Mobile World Congress is just around the corner. It is very likely that Nokia will launch other new phones too. It might be even possible that N96 is not even a flasgship model. So before judging nokia, wait and see my friends. Wait _ and _ see.
And yeah. I agree. Design of this phone does not fancy me at all. It looks just so 'toyish' that it makes me feel like N95 8GB would be a better choice. But as i said GSMA is here, soon.

This is not just a hybrid of the N95 and N81.
It's a phone made with the looks and features of the N95, N95 8gb, N82, N81, and N92.
N95 - Dual slide design and most features
N95 8gb - memory [x2], screen and multimedia features
N82 - side-mounted stereo speakers, memory card slot design, and back panal design
N81 - front panal and top/bottom/side edges of the body design [including speaker mesh] and Navi-Track wheel
N92 - TV-Out in SDTV resolution and DVB-H receiver
