My S7 started with the 6.0 & stopped at 8.0 ... Rubbish for a flagship phone.
The cheap Nexus 5X did better than that expensive S7.

More satisfied with an iPhone and will consider a Mi 10 given the pricing in my country is reasonable.
Oh not to mention the Exynos chipset throttles a lot in the FE (my battery also malfunctioned a bit) and the OS is slow and pathetic. Can only run PUBG Mobile at lowest graphics ans that even comes with thermal throttling.

I go for iPhone, my wife goes android.
When I buy new iPhone I can sell "old" one for more than 50 percent of price. Sometimes even better. Because what I am selling then is a device in good shape with actual os which is going to be updated for next few years.
My wife bought android phone for 800 and had to sell it for 140 after two years when she wanted to upgrade. It was working good , probably will work for next two years or more. But hey that software was old and those "premium features" are now available in lower class android phones.
____
Compare that to the car that is very good but after 3 years you no can't change tires any more. You can still ride it but you have no idea when those old tires will blow (stagefreight).

Thanu bro, 04 May 2020This is a weak point of android Is a weak point only if you want to hang on to your phone for more than 2 years. Also, if you are really interested in software updates (I mean android software updates, not security updates).
For me, I like them because they bring fresh things to your phone, but sometimes they are a risk, if they aren't done correctly. I sold couple of my phones in the past, just because of software updates done wrong (including a 750EUR Samsung S9+ after just 6 months).
Nowadays, I am just going with affordable mid-range phones (from the current year) and change them each 12-18 months. I pay less for them and also have the latest Android install on them.
The only things that flagships bring nowadays compared to mid-range ones, are not important or interesting to me (like IP rating, 2k/4k displays, OLED displays, 90Hz/120Hz refresh rate, multiple cameras on the back).

DroidBoye, 04 May 2020Notches and punch-holes are dumb IMO. If I am someone that ... moreExactly !
Now imagine a Samsung Galaxy S30 with no chin and a top bezel as thin as the Meizu 16 or Nubia Play !
With all its sensors from the S9 (Iris scanner plus other for 3D facial recognition), flat display, and the awesome Qualcomm "3D Sonic Max" rather than the previous and problematic "3D Sonic" !
And an audio Jack of course.

Foxtrot2Novmbr, 04 May 2020What about those galaxy note 8 users? If you follow the Source link, you will see that the Galaxy Note8 is still on the Monthly updates list (but how long that will last I can't say):

Man come on. You don't need security patches so fast. It is normal. Don't worry hackers won't hack your phone.

If I am someone that see a galaxy phone for the first time, I would consider Note 9's screen design as "better" in terms of looks compared to punch holes of the galaxies now. No interruption, it's best display design.

C'mon, look at how good the S8 and S9 looked without any punch hole or notch, a more than acceptably small bezel, and look at all those damn sensors it has :
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s8-pictures-8161.php
How could anyone prefer having a punch hole or notch over that just to get "fulldisplay" (which isn't full as a chunk of it is removed).
When I saw the article image on the news feed, my eyes were pleased to see a real uninterrupted display, it look so much more pleasing.
Sadly those two phones have curved edge display...
The same as the S8/S9 with no chin, just a slim top bezel and flat display with slim but existing edges would be so good !

Secure patches are always every three months since I bought my galaxy s8, this is a joke!!
I think its going to be my last Samsung device because I am sick of this lack of software support, smartphones companys should realize that software and security updates should be consistent and for a long range support, so can customers appreciate it and continue to buy there products.
