There are so many phones boasting about their raw performance,huge RAM,4 cameras (out of those usually 1/2 are useless anyway),display cutouts.
But how many phones are in market with IP rating,OLED display,GG6,Stock UI.
Sure Chinese phones provide better performance per dollar for a phone but they operate mostly on software services like selling private data,Adds in System UI,Locking bootloader to trap you forever to force customers to use their Softwares.along with cheap/recycled hardware they can offer sililar pwrformance to a proper flagship at a much cheaper prices.
Brands like sony cant do that,thats why they are expensive.
It is important to note that Sony is one of the most ethical brands in the world currently so they are far better than chinese phonemakers that use shady marketing tricks.
In the end its good to have such a unique product in the market that is alrady dilled with more or less similarly equiped phones under different brand names.
You choose
Its upto users that whether they want absolute performance targeted at crowd or a unique & professional device.

Device is made according to the taste of Japanese, not Chinese nor Indian ppl.
It is easier to make phone cheaper when you recicle parts, change 1 component and sell as new model.
At least Sony is not the one shipping phones with microUSB nor without NFC.

Moto Z Play series used SD6xx. Every year it was above $400.
Xperia X and LG G5 SE were more than $500.
Samsung A9 (SD653) was very expensive.
Pixel 3a XL with 675 almost $500.

What kind of performance, most people are supposedly into, are you talking about?
Do common people walk into a store and ask upfront what SoC does a phone have? No.
There are market segments.
Not everybody is into heavy gaming like teenagers, but care for example ip, audio, video, camera, browsing performance of their phones...
I dont see this SoC being nowhere near bad at that kind of performance...
Its a good midrange SoC with a weaker gpu, for people not into phone heavy gaming anyways.
But here we go again, being blind to all other good aspects this phone brings for the price, and talking about the SoC only.
Tell you what, why dont we wait for the video review and see if it stutters or freezes or sth.... okeish?

I pointed ou... moreLike i said, on mid ranger pricing segment, people dont care about any IP rating, GG, etc. but rather great performance for the price. All that reserve for flagship pricing segment. Sony need to understand consumers market needs, or else it will be the same story again, which sales worsen each year.
I wish Sony to succeeds, like the old days. I dont know about you, but these pricing & specs strategy for Xperia 10ii, wont be in good sales, when competition is much higher out there.

SD7xx series like the SD720/730G isn't premium mid range, it is used on 200-300$ smartphones.

6xx series has always been midrange.
8xx series is high end
4xx series is low midrange
2xx series is low
and the new 7xx series is just premium midrange/cheap high end, whatever way you like calling it. It doesnt means 7xx will substitute 6xx in the midrange world.
