Anonymous, 07 May 2020Tell that to Pixel flagship devices haha Yes, alu is bette... moreI didn't ask, nor want for a metal back plate. There are better solutions. Did you check out ikimobile? Still the best backs I've seen on any phone.

Anonymous, 07 May 2020Tell that to Pixel flagship devices haha Yes, alu is bette... moreFrosted glass, is still glass. There are way more appealing choices. Some great polycarbonate options. Ceramic. Or best I've seen, cork. Look at ikimobile. Gorgeous phones. Look better than all the garish coloured glass.

Yes, alu is bette... moreYes please. It actually does feel nice.
It would however be a good start if manufactureres stopped using a glossy finish, no matter if plastic or glass.

Peachy001, 06 May 2020It's a joke to use glass for the back of a phone. Tell that to Pixel flagship devices haha
Yes, alu is better, but hey it's a glass trend in the last 3 years. At least, now is frosted glass, on a couple of flagships devices (iPhone 11 Pro/Max, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro..) so no smudges and fingerprints everywhere. I hope there will be more smartphones with frosted (if they must put a glass) back, in future, even, midrange smartphones.

Jbis, 07 May 2020Understood...but do you, or anyone else, actually know what... moreI know it will be a fair way behind the 865bon TF. And behind the 855. I'm just hoping it ain't on par with an 835. And ideally, above the 845. My big bear is that it is a good way behind the 865, which would be my preferred processor. I'm not a benchmark fiend, so they don't matter too much, but they do matter a bit. Having the top end will ensure it feels snappy for longer. Which I find important when it launches just before next year's Snapdragon is announced. As Google always goes last, at least in devices I'd consider, I'd expect that they'd at least use the top tier processor.

Peachy001, 06 May 2020You do realise the series number has significance, don't you? Understood...but do you, or anyone else, actually know what the difference is at this point?

Center punch hole is better than corner, because android doesn't use the middle of the status bar

Peachy001, 06 May 2020Seriously? Oh, I'd seen one bench mark which put it firmly ... moreYou can't rely on benchmarks (even though op5 gets 185,686 while k30 gets 302,847 on antutu v8), you can clock your cores as high as you want, but if you don't have the wright technology to go with it, your cpu is going to start throttling faster and performance will drop ( remember those mediatek X series and their impressive benchmarks numbers), the 765G uses technology way advanced than the 835, it has newer cortex a76, newer 7nm euv process, the adreno 620 which is 1 generation ahead of the old 540...

Peachy001, 06 May 2020Echoing my thoughts. Give me a decent main and ultrawide. A... morePixel 4 series used 855, so this cannot go back to that part. 7 series, especially 765 is a good processor and definitely better than my LG G6's SD 821 which can now be termed rubbish. RAM and storage again are questionmarks on this 4A. At this price point, SE 2020 offers a lot more value and good name to back it up. Either you absolutely love Pixel devices or you absolutely hate Pixel devices. With Apple, there is another option - Ready to try.

AhmedSLL, 06 May 2020Believe me, the sd765G is the best they can do at this pric... moreSeriously? Oh, I'd seen one bench mark which put it firmly below the 835.

Why is Google’s design language so ugly? Both in devices and UI. On mobile and PC.

this story makes laugh. firstly there is no such thing as an accidental leak. all purposely done to promote a device.
Secondly the most intriguing how the hell does anyone manage to conclude this is a Pixel 4a from this screenshot. it could any android device in the world. like I said too many people reading way too much into it.

The leaks are fine but the news should be about why he isn't using Pixel 4/4xl. The SVP of Hardware should have been using their latest flagship.

ixon2015, 06 May 2020I've gone from a Pixel 3a to the SE 2020 I was all set for ... moreYeah, the 3a really outclassed all the competition last year, I recommended it to anyone. Apple has thrown a real curve ball in that I'd now need to a person to qualify if simply being an iPhone was important when they ask me.
The processor is best in class but I really don't think the average person who would be seeking my opinion needs this... Then even in my techy circles I don't know anyone in real life who actually has a wireless charger. In my opinion construction material is pretty irrelevant as phones should go from sales packaging to a case immediately. Water resistance is definitely nice to have though, I'm hoping Google springs for it this time around! Finally, whilst long software support sounds like a good selling point, batteries in devices used so much everyday are not going to last and as far as I'm aware Google is still supporting the OG Pixel so not sure a comparison can really be drawn?
A straight win for the Pixel is the screen; a native resolution option for video playback and superior display technology. I admit, however, that to the general populace this might not matter. Let's also not forget the 4a is expected to have a 3.5mm jack which, whilst neither here nor there to me, improves appeal among the masses - but probably not as much as the logo does on the SE.
On paper I'd say it's a toss up, in reality I know which will sell more.

Am I the only one horrified by the height of that status bar? So much screen real estate wasted.
