Some day in the future, Pixel phones will have big 6,000mAh batteries and I will be the first to buy it. Alas, today is not that day, so I have no choice but to skip Pixel phones.

I've gone from a Pixel 3a to the SE 2020 I was all set for the Pixel 4a, but for the price the SE is hard to beat for what it offers A13, Wireless Charging, IP67, Glass & Metal body & 5 years worth of updates, even the camera very decent in daylight thanks to the A13 & video recording quality is superb, plus using an camera app called Neural Cam also now get very decent night shots aswell.
Sure the SE 2020 design look's outdated, but tbh you still see alot of older iPhones with the same design knocking about, the SE will only increase that.
I personally think the Pixel 4a will not have the same amount of success as the Pixel 3a did, because the average consumer with a $400 budget will pick an iPhone over a Pixel because it's Apple & their friends will most likely have an iPhone aswell.
Actually even Samsung ect will also struggle in this price bracket to sell phones, because of the price of the iPhone SE 2020.

The pure android that pixel offers, the best cam, 3 yr of software support, titan M security chip, and plastic body which during jerryrigeverything's torture test survived and aced it. At the same time these glass phones for 300$ didnt. I would take a plastic phne that doesn't break on first impact with a good build quality any day.

Well design color piazza is missing - I enjoy the red color and size of the iPhone SE- using in my burner device - was contemplating a return - but man I want wireless charging- the 4a seems to lack it - just like the 3a-

All other phones of this price range utilizes at least a glass back. Even many $200 phones (Redmi Note 8/8 Pro, realme XT, Vivo S1 Pro, etc.) utilizes a glass back, though their frame is made out of plastic.
It's a joke to put plastic back on a $400 phone. And in some countries where Chinese phones are cheaper, the (regular) Mi Note 10 will still beat the Pixel 4a in photography (maybe except low-light).

A 400mA battery, decent screen. Touch smaller than the 2XL, I'm in. And latest top end processor. They are all I need. I'm all in on Google imaging, love it. But man, please no 765 processor. Does anyone even know how that compares to the last 3 or 4 800 series? Is it less capable than the 835 in my 2XL?

If history is any indicator, this device will launch to some fanfare from certain "tech press" forums and then go into the "meh" category of overpriced-underdelivering devices which is the long term gather spot for oppo, vivo, htc, and nokia devices.
One thing google is the best at is disappointing its customers. I don't see that changing soon.

But I really hope they make it wright this time, it's very simple, a 4000mAh ( yus I know that's asking a lot from google), reasonable storage for the price, a flagship sensor (even if it's from last year), no stupid gimmick, for the soc I don't expect a sd765G if the price is between 400 and 500$ but we'll see.
