as for me, i sold my old phones but when it comes to xperia i just keep it and use it...
miro - it now works as my music player especially on long trips...
z1 compact - still use it as my personal main phone, it is the only phone i bring when i want to travel light...
z3 - using it now as wifi hotspot esp when im away from work or home where there are few hotspots, supposed to be my media phone but i decided to get another one...
z5 premium - is my multimedia phone and my work phone... so when a call comes to this phone, i already know where it comes from... :D
i am tempted to get the xperia 1, but 1 II is better... am i into a great treat coming from z5 premium... but this is just "temptation"...
i needed more of getting a new main phone to replace my z1 compact... xz2 compact is good, that is if i can get one at a prestine condition... waiting for the importer to have xperia 10 II... or if i can wait a little longer, perhaps the 5 II...
only few appreciates xperia now, here in the philippines many people prefer "high spec low price" but end up buying every year, they just have that "fear of missing out"

My comment means that haters complain about Sony charging 370 euros for this device. But if this same phone was Samsung and price was 500 euros, the haters would not complain about the price asked.
On another day I read a stupid comment that Sony should charge $500 for 1 ii ...
For $500 you do not even pay for the pieces.

You ju... moreIt's funny how you think more market share = better product. It's not. You can't compare quality based on number of sales alone.
I'm not arguing the fact that Chinese brands have more market share that more people buy them because they make "better" phones for cheaper prices. That's exactly how marketing works. You offer them products that looks "better" with a cheap price and people will buy them. It's simple. And they're good at doing that. But that doesn't mean they actually make better phones.
Cheap prices are always coming from so many factors: Government subsidy to cover the extra manufacturing cost in return for our private data being mined. Unsustainable workforce that gets paid next to none to manufacture them. And puts in cheap components that works well but doesn't last long.
I also don't argue that Chinese brands make innovations these days. But that doesn't mean those innovations are always good innovations. Some of them just appears to be good, but there's always a catch whatever it is.
For example, Vivo's quickcharging technology to charge your 4,000 mAh phone in 13 minutes, or Xiaomi's 100W charging from 0 - 100% in 17 minutes. At first glance when they market this "innovation" and people look at it.. It looks "WOW, AMAZING" Chinese innovation supremacy at its finest. And again, I'm not saying they're lying. It may work as marketed. But you give that much current into your battery, you can be pretty damn sure that battery's gonna be lose it's full capacity charge in less than a year. You can't beat physics and chemistry. Samsung knows this, Sony knows this, Apple knows this and they know that you can't just slap some new innovation in without thinking of the bigger picture or its impact to the customer's investment in their products. Chinese brands just don't care about this. As long as they make something new that appeals to the masses, they don't care what happens outside of it.
A good quality phone isn't just what's on paper. Everyone needs to stop reading marketing brochures, specs on paper, or price. Price = Quality. And Quality is more than what's on paper.

Actually, the phone looks pretty decent, and will probably satisfy most people. SD665 sure, but OLED panel and water proofing put more expensive models to shame. Most mid range phones have good enough specs. Not everyone needs SD865/765. It boils down to usage and personal needs.

Quite pointless arguing with XRg, she or he obviously comes from different type of market. Most likely some where phones are super expensive or money for the phone is hard to come by and I don't mean that in demeaning kind of way. So obviously for their money they want as much as they can and aggressive marketing in their market tells them higher the numbers the better like higher chipset designation, bigger RAM memory, more cameras, more megapixels in cameras and as of late size of a sensor has became a thing. So basically as long as a phone has all of those things customer gets the feeling they are not being ripped off because being ripped off or jacked is common kind of thing in that market or lifestyle.
So that's it pretty much. You just have to accept it and not argue it. One way or the other when market matures they will figure out these things. Just like how they figured that cheaper phone with giant screen is not a super deal but instead it has a garbage of a screen compared to a bit more expensive device with smaller screen or how 12GB or RAM actually does not do anything so 8GB devices have become acceptable in spec wars. Give it some time and they will figure out why flagship chipset is not doing anything it's supposed to do compared to midrange chipsets because it's paired with low end hardware that cannot utilize all of the chipset unique functions except brute speed.

Please stop bringing up chinese brands here. They will never compare with this brand. No matter what they do they can’t compare with the expertise of Sony. People will always have doubts because of CCP spionage on chinese branded phones. It’s the reason for cheapness, strings are attached. Anytime, the switches can be turned on and datas will be at CCP’s hands.

6... moreSeems you forgot the unseen Snapdragon 215/460 is currently the newest Snapdragon's lowest offering right now. The reason you haven't seen the devices are powering with SD460 or SD662, let alone SD215 in 2020 because Qualcomm has been focusing 700 Series and 600 Series mid-ranger, with the cost overlong and overdue giving their 400 Series and 200 Series an upgrade they need, and other factors to count like shifting market demands.
And yeah, SD460 is the first Snapdragon 400 Series to equipped with Kryo Custom Chipset. And there's even lower than SD665, which's the SD662. By some people, SD662 could be served as the successor to both SD632 and SD636.

The marketshare was dominated by LG, SAMSUNG & SONY in mid range back in 2012-13.
Chinese brands dominated simply coz they sold better phones at cheap prices.
Quality was the same too.
No one just topples premium brands like Samsung from their no 1 position by giving cheap quality products.
You're still living in 2007 where you think Chinese phones are cr*p.
