I'm not saying they're bad, but they're catering to the frugal public where "specs on paper" are the most important. Up to a point they're willing to sacrifice other aspect of the phone for the sake of making it look good on paper and reviews, etc to gain popularity while keeping the cost very low.
If you're into those kind of phones, that's all fine.. But what I find with Chinese phones are simply, they appear to be good. But they only last for less than a year before you have to replace them with a new model. And they don't need to think about quality. As long as they're good on paper, people will buy them. And with the low price, people will keep buying them. and the only way for people to buy them is to make the phone have a short lifespan.
I've used Sony phones since 2012, and I change my phone once every 3 years.. Even so, I don't really need to since I still have my 6 years old Xperia Z2 that still runs without issue. Battery life is still good, everything still works. I only change my phone when they stop giving security updates.
This is what sets premium brands over Chinese brands. iPhone, Samsung, Sony, all are more expensive. But we get build quality that lasts for years and years. If they keep giving updates for more than 6 years on my Z2, I would've still use it today instead of upgrading to XZ1 3 years ago.

OP8 Pro has a 8MP 1/4" 80mm camera.
Mi10 Pro has 8MP 1/5" periscope.
Be glad because almost all phones between $300-700 announced in 2020 have Macro or depth instead. It is a simple camera, but at least has one for this Focal Length.

We are in 2020, where is the 5G support? Honor 30 and Mi Note 10 are better phones for the price. But Mi Note 11 will be on the next level. Even Lenovo could release a better alternative at reasonable price.
So funny watch fans buying a selfie post-processed image. Sadly for you, only the phone will be inside the box...

Absolutely insane deal from Sony to be honest. I quite expected the cameras to be garbage for the price tag, but on first sight the photos are pretty decent, and the night mode looks rather impressive in this price segment.
I'll wait to see the video test, but it's rounding up to be the best price/performance ratio phone Sony has relased in YEARS.

Xperia got Edit function and manual mode and I can make that photo in my XZ3. But you forgot, everybody like Auto and DXomark like auto.
Now people like you will say: I can do that in manual mode and software trick... Sony meh.

I'm a Sony fanboy. :-)
My last Sony phones were their compacts with flagship SoC. I also had a Z3 for a few weeks.
Other makers came along and did better jobs & at lower prices.
Sony & HTC will go the same way in the smartphone business.

It's the overall device that matters the most.
This phone is a lower tier version of the Xperia 1 Mk II, with mid range level (still better than most) camera setup and most optimal chipset.
Even if the SD665 isn't the most powerful mid range SoC, it at least wouldn't be overheating far too quickly like some flagship chipsets found on $1400 flagships do.
Some do offer SD865 at this price, but then cuts the corner by having a stupid screen cutout with uneven screen brightness around the camera cutout. Then the screen will burn in after 6 months of use, while the battery would drop from 6000mAh to 2500mAh in 3 months real quick because of insanely high charging speeds. 108MP camera that we've all known to have focusing issues and weak low light capabilities.
So yeah, you may trade the phone's overall quality just for the sake of that slightly better choice of chipset. Guaranteed, this phone would certainly last for years because of how little to no compromise Sony made to this product.
