Sony' story is quite simple: their current phones starting with XZ Premium up to Xperia 1 II are the best mobile phones they have every made. Fit and finish only rivaled by Apple, clever engineering, lot's of features and much more is what you get in new Xperia. So where is the problem? 2014 is the problem actually, that's the time where Sony made super crappy phones cause it got greedy.

Not rocket science...probably all those people interested are waiting for the Xperia 1 ii especially given it was announced in February....here we are in May, still waiting!

The reason people don't buy Sony phones is that the camera is trash, the battery is usually trash and their customer service is garbage. On top of all this they think they can Apple/Samsung/Pixel flagship money for them. Absolute joke

Sony can't even sell more than a million units in 3 months.
Xiaomi and other Chinese brands are selling that much in one flash sale.
Where are all the Sony guys asking for sales number of Chinese brands?
Individual Chinese phones from Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo are selling more than the entire Sony catalogue of smartphones.

I think Sony should look back at 2014 to learn why they h... moreWith so many wireless editions to smart phone use, but not excluding the 3.5mm for us, the Ultra Style of the Xperia z1 might be a good idea again. Wouldn't even need to change the internals to accommodate the larger screen, just add more battery in the empty space.
I wanted to get the ultra myself, but BELL was trying to use it to milk me without the table.

Sony really needed to fix up 2 or 3 years ago. 400K phones in Q1 is pretty much a death sentence. It's going to be very hard for them to turn a profit AND reclaim market share. Sony has been focused on maintaining a healthy business so I don't think they're going to take a gamble for market share. The top players in mobile are firmly planted: Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, BBK. Their numbers are too big to come in trying to sell for a huge profit like Sony does. It's only a matter of time before everyone else is gone. Sony and HTC will be first, LG next. Lenovo / Motorola and HMD / Nokia appear to be a bit healthier.

sony like samsung pixel and a few others still makes quality phones without a bunch of backdoors and without cutting corners.
it might be their downfall, but don't get this wrong, when you get a cheap xiaomi or similar phone you definitely get what you pay for: they exfiltrate your data (even when you turn on various privacy modes), the phones are made by various cheap manufacturers for them to slap their brand on and so on.
oh and even samsung does this for the cheaper phones to be able to compete. they're cheap for a reason.
