Anonymous, 31 May 2012sony always offer a better "price to perform" pho... moreBWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Over confident Sony troll here. First off please show me where Samsung is copying everyone else? Second Most Samsung's cost more because most have more features. Sony uses it's own design in lots of phones. So do all other companies. Why is Samsung not allowed? Even Apple uses Samsung's design a lot. The Galaxy line is made in simplicity, but many Samsung phones have unique designs too.

It'd be cool to see a Sony Xperia Pro L - like a keyboard version of the same model.

/\/\@X|/\/\US, 31 May 2012You seem to have never cared to check or confirm your fact... moreThe fact remains that the xperia play could've had the potential to be upgraded in the first place IF Sony Ericsson made the device with decent enough specification. What you don't seem to understand is that the people who purchased the device now have something that has aged extremely quickly. Why has it aged? Well I'll tell you, its because they used mid ranged components hoping that the pad will make up for that shortfall. My facts came from the same site you're reading this; the ICS lineup included the play, then it didn't. For whatever reason, the phone lost £300 off its sim free value in less than a year. My concern is that these mid range phones should not be the focus of Sony, bottom line. But honestly, your "in depth" knowledge as to why no update is probably due to your making a bad purchase on the play, nevermind, I look forward to seeing if they will do a play 2 with the PS Vita competing for market share in mobile gaming. But then again It's people like you justifying their decisions on these mid range phones that keeps us lagging behind what's possible. People like me buy high end phones so people like you can have someo talk about when you get your little phone for your 12th birthday. We'll see who's right come Q4

10ATP, 31 May 2012A lot of people are not paying attention; if I cared enough... moreYou seem to have never cared to check or confirm your facts right?

Do you know how many apps are actually run flawlessly on ICS -- less than 20 on Google Play (most others crash or are buggy)

Now think about "Xperia Play" which is a game centric device. Now how many of those games which are running on GingerBread powered Xperia Play are supported on ICS.
Answer -- NONE. so how could sony upgrade Xperia Play to ICS when that device main purpose would go to bin.

Actual reason for Xperia Play not getting official ICS upgrade is that game developers aren't ready to optimize their games to a ICS powered Play. They are instead focussing on Dual or Quad Core Sony Xperia Play 2.

So go and bum around somethin else ::()::

10ATP , 31 May 2012KID? Dude, maybe you weren't paying attention the past 10 y... moreWhat you don't realize is; it is not hard at all for Sony to focus on all their phones.

Last year they released 14 phones, all being the same except the Xperia Play having a gamepad and a special PS Suite(It would have ran flawlessly on ICS, the games are just not supported). They all had 512 MB of RAM and the same processor so it was very easy for them to upgrade them...

Same thing this year, all phones either have the S3 chipset or the Novathor chipset (Except the low end phones like the Neo L and Tapioca which won't be updated to Jelly Bean because they are low end...)Nothing is wrong with releasing two phones for each category.

Xperia S and Acro S for high end
Xperia P and Sola for mid range
Xperia U and Go for lower mid range
Xperia Neo L and Tapioca for low end

How many phones did HTC release?
HTC One X and One XL for high end. Yes they do sell the S4 One X(Atleast where I live)
                      Htc One S
                      HTC One V

and I am sure they will release atleast 2 new phones which makes that 6 phones. HTC phones are also overpriced. Xperia S is 490$ unlocked while the One S(Yes One S with qHD display, 11 GB storage, 1600 MAH camera, 8MP camera and VGA front camera) is worth 520$ unlocked. One X is 600+.

A lot of people are not paying attention; if I cared enough about Samsung, then the same comments would apply. The big difference is that Samsung CAN afford to flood the market with worthless mid range phones, Sony can't. You disagree? Well then I can't say much to you lot and the lack of ability to read figures. But as someone who has owned Sony Ericsson feature phones as well as the first xperia back in 2008 and the x10 back in 2010, you lot should get your money up! Remember xperia play with the mediocre specs? what happened to its ICS update? Exactly! If you don't know, go read. Apologies accepted in advance.

Anonymous, 31 May 2012a person like @10ATP is a pathetic kid vendor doesnt alway... moreKID? Dude, maybe you weren't paying attention the past 10 years, maybe you weren't allowed outside the house back in 2002... Me, I was buying Sony Ericsson phones, so my point is valid. What's pathetic is that you have not realised that Sony in my opinion are making the same decisions that Sony Ericsson made. Sony has always been associated with high end, so when they removed the Ericsson from their mobile division, there was hope that they would follow suit with their phones. What's pathetic is that you're not paying attention. HTC have reduced their line, and seeing Sony focusing on 3 phones would be better for customers, but what do you know, your phone is probably a hand me down from your sister! Go watch the vlog from clove on this subject matter, your apology is accepted in advance.
