HTC launches One S in Taiwan with 1.7GHz processor

01 June, 2012
Although it is clocked higher, the processor is actually the older Snapdragon S3 instead of the S4.

[deleted post]Yup. You are so right. That's why IOS needs to be jailbroken to do what a non rooted Droid can do. Because Android is an IOS copy. Good luck with that logic.

This is from Hong Kong and actually HTC is launching this "UPGRADE" version here too. I was so disappointed as I've waited for 3 months or so. How can you expect a S3 45nm cpu perform the same as S4 28nm one? with a non removeable 1650mAh battery and heating up issues during full load...

Changes in spec is not the main issue(But really hurts thou). The thing is, HTC have just put 1.7g dual core on the website but not mentioning they switched to S3. Their official reply keep telling you the experience is the same with no clarification. The price tag even same as the S4 one. This is the problem of honesty. Why don't HTC change the phone name a bit (like HTC ONE SE/ONE SX whatever) and announce this is a alter version? Lower the price or pack with a phone case or Beats headphone etc. Telling your supporter that it was TSMC problem, no choice. We consumer have the right to know what we are buying.

There is always a better way to market the product. But HTC chose the wrong and worst way...

Qualcomm shortage of the S4. And its already affecting the One S. Im wondering if its going to affect the launch date of the Galaxy S3 Qualcomm variants in the US. Im waiting for One S here in our country, only one x and one v available currently. Hoping that they will not release the S3 type here. I guessed thats why Sony is behind with the processor aspects. They have no phones currently available with an S4 SoC.

I'm from Taiwan and many HTC fans here in Taiwan are very furious about HTC "downgrading" the spec of One S!!!

If it is the same proc as in sensation (xe) then - thanks, but no thanks. That is the only reason i've sold sensation and not bought xperia s for example. That is the most battery inefficient mobile proc so far, in terms of newer dual cores. Regards
