eda229, 19 May 2020I love sony phones. still I'm using z5.great phone with sup... moreThe Z5 had bad battery life coz of the terrible throttling of SD810 Chipset.
This is why even the compact model of Z5 with 720p display gave terrible battery life.

If you are in India, don't you think OnePlus 8 pro is much better and cheaper buy than S20 especially since S20 sports the Exynos there?

Anonymous, 19 May 2020If someone decides to buy a 4K screen Xperia, it is because... moreSays the guy who never used 120hz on Smartphones.
Motion blur 90hz is software gimmick. Can't match native refresh rate.

Besides even on the Xperia, only during 4k content, it operates at 4k.
It is designed to lower resolution during gaming and other things to save battery.
Afcourse you can set it to 4k constant at the cost of excessive battery drain.
The panel is too dim as well.

4k is a proven battery hog. This is why Samsung and others never bothered with a 4k screen. It's called law of diminishing returns. Only on 10 inch and above devices, 4k can make sense. Just like refresh rate of 144hz is hardly justifiable over 120hz. But the jump from 60hz to 120hz is significant.

The industry is pretty happy with 3k resolution for under 7 inch devices. Screen manufacturers aren't going beyond 3k on sub 7 inch displays.
They are instead diverting their focus on better HDR, Brightness levels, higher refresh rate, lower latency, efficiency of panels, etc.

Smithravi, 19 May 2020 It is not a gaming mobile. It is a premium mobile. 60Hz is... more120hz is standard for 2020 flagships.
Even 90hz is available on budget phones.
No amount of motion blur gimmick will match native refresh rate.

Once you go to 120hz, you never go back to 60hz again.
Opinions of Sensory challenged folks like you doesn't matter.

Alluuu, 19 May 2020I used to buy Sony, had the Xperia V and Xperia Z1 Compact,... moreBiggest problem with the car analogy is that Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini aren't incurring losses like Sony in mobile segment.

Most of the reviewers around the world will get it one way or the other after the Japanese launch. It will get real interesting in coming week or two. Lets see how and where it ends up. But I can say that it will definitely be top of the line and most probably above all in overall features.

Anonymous, 18 May 2020Sony always takes too long to release their phones after it... moreyes and no...SONY phones announced on MWC are always scheduled to be available only in may-june time frame ... it has something to do with Japanese market , they want their new phones to arrive at the begging of summer for some reason..
SONY phones that are announced at IFA are always available within two weeks from announcement .

it's been like that for at least past ten years or so .

I love sony phones. still I'm using z5.great phone with super performance. The only concern is battery, otherwise, everything is great with the phone.
Now I want to change my phone just b'coz of battery backup, but sony had stopped mobile sale in India so unfortunately I've to move to samsung s20.
Hoping for Sony to come back in India.....

Anonymous, 19 May 2020Why blame Qualcomm? It does give 3k@120hz. Nobody wants... moreIf someone decides to buy a 4K screen Xperia, it is because this person wants to use the 4K. Otherwise the person will buy 5 ii instead.

Screens do not change resolution, they just limit the resolution apps can run, otherwise you would have black bars like you see on computer.

Weird the ppl that demand 120Hz today , were using 60Hz months ago without problem. The same ppl knew 120Hz phones have been around since 2016, but never said anyrhing about.

As always, something is called gimmick until Samsung, Apple or chinese brand decides to use.

Motion Blur reduction gives same performance of 90Hz.

I used to buy Sony, had the Xperia V and Xperia Z1 Compact, still have the Z3 Compact Tablet - works great as my cinema control panel with openHAB.

The Z1C was a great phone, I loved the fact that it had uncompromized flagship performance and hardware in a compact shell, survived every drop of even 2 stories, bouncing on asphalt and finally when I bent it's sim card pins with a stupid sim card adapter I was sad, because there was no longer any phone I liked that I could buy as everything was huge. Had to opt for the best of the worst situation and go over to Samsung, and got me a S8 when it came out. I was happy with it for some time, even though it being a bit too big, and I don't really even care about the 4k, as I have the screen setting on FHD, for best battery performance. As time goes on, I've started to hate what's happened to my Samsung phone, how it's gotten way bloated and usability ruined by software updates. Never had this on Sony, and fondly remember only how good it was with the phone, while I had it.

I'm really looking forward to the Xperia 1 II being a great phone, as I hope this will mean Xperia 5 II will be a compact version of a great phone that I can buy and once again enjoy superb Sony craftsmanship. And again, don't really care about features like 4K on a tiny screen or high refresh rates, as if possible, I'd turn them down. I'm even not looking for 4k on a laptop screen, because I care about battery more, and for watching High resolution HDR content I have other display's. My eye can not distinguish between 4k and FHD on a 5" or 6" display, barely can on 14" laptop, but not on viewing distance. In fact I'm willing to pay more for a truly good FHD screen than settle with UHD they're pushing on everywhere, which is Why I'm looking to buy a rather premium priced ThinkPad X1 Yoga 5 gen.

All I want is good reliable tech that I can count on, and Sony can definitely cater to this segment.

I really liked one of the previous commentators comparison with cars, Toyota really sells more cars than Bentley, and some Chinese manufacturers surely have some features Bentley doesn't, but which one would You rather get..

Your battery will last two weeks with one charge and you'll have superior photos. Plus, you can have both for less money than you would pay for a phone with a mediocre camera and lousy battery life.

Been reading about these comments and it seems that you guys are arguing for the sake of arguing. Who in the right mind would buy a phone based on up rating or sales figures or even screen resolution ? The only thing that matters are the battery life and camera performance.

And no, camera performance are exposure levels and colour.
