It was expected. Apple sells only few models and has an operating system without any competition in it.
So, if this OS is largely accepted, logic told us that they will have the best selling device.
Allow Xiaomi &co into the system and see if apple will be with any phone in top 20

This is why they sell more than iPhones and that is evident by 80% marketshare.
In Android, users get variety of choice, so they gravitate towards different brands and one particular flagship might not score high numbers in units while with iOS , there are limited number of choices,so the flagship scores high number of units.

Only for the people who get paid so much that they have no issue with the money and cant think straight think like that. Or the people who want to show off that they have money and leashing the flagship phones to be trendy. And then there are lots of women who have no clue what so ever about tech and thats majority of women as i understand that there are still like 5-10% of women who understand tech can have them selves xiaomi phone that is wrapped with apple logo and they really think they use apple and they cant make any difference is it ios or android. For example my mother goes panic mode if her TV lose sound after electricity cut off cause she dont have a clue even how to turn on dvd player as the home theater system and i need to talk trough phone to her how do do it every time.

1st: They just don't play on their phones as much as Asian and Indian people. Gaming consoles and PC's (Steam etc.), are still the dominant platforms for gaming.
2nd: And since you get high-end phones (from the established manufacturers) very cheap from many carriers every one or two years, you go for these phones. Why not?
For example, you can get a mid-range Galaxy A51 for free with 20GB data/month, unlimited phone Calls/Roaming, free phone change after water/fall defects, free use of 5G networks (for 5G supported phones). All that for 30 euro per month. The same tariff for just 58 euro/month for the iPhone 11. And 66 Euro for the Samsung S20+ etc. Depended on your options it can be even cheaper too...
3rd: Two years of official warranty (in EU at least). If your phone has hiccups or brakes you find certified repair stores everywhere. Even after the warranty ends, you have physical stores were you can go or send it, without waiting for weeks. Try that with imported Chinese phones. Only Xiaomi and OnePlus have just a few stores and in only 2-3 countries in Europe.

And iphone said will always be higher because you've gone from 1 model, 2 models, now 3... and a new se. But that's it. Where as androids have a ballot larger selection including the ultra affordable end.

People have been saying Covid-19 affects sales. This is not the case with Apple. Great job, really. Samsung sales with its S20 (its closest rival) have been sloppy, dropping 20% in Q1 (according to Android Authority).
5G, along with its Exynos chipset (Notebookcheck) contributes to its slumpy sales.
The iPhone 7, 8, and X were very dissapointing and of poor quality. But the XR and 11 changed that. Nice work Tim Apple.
It used to be that the S and Note series of Samsung used to be the Android benchmark, but sadly, Xiaomi is pushing hard to dethrone Samsung. "The mightiest of kings eventually fall"-Android Authority. A Mi 10 is better than the S20 in many areas but display.
