So IDC took a 'comfortable' back-hander from Micro$oft to make 'predictions' about a point in time so far away that it will have been long-forgotten and the people saying it now will long since have moved-on to 'greater things' in other organisations when it finally arrives... not the first or the last time this sort of thing has happened

The thing about Android is only looks good in paper, but real world performance isn't great. Android is too unreliable for me.

I think its great to get a 3rd major platform in the market.
All we need now is another few companies phone companies to compete with Samsung and Apple. Probably HTC and maybe nokia will make a comeback?
Remember even if Android and iOS market share falls, the market is growing at such a rate their profits could still be increasing rapidly.
(for the record, i used nokia for 3 years, iphones for 2 years and have been on SGS2, now Note for over a year)

we can never tell, but then again, what are the basis? WP7 is even hard to jailbreak/root, apps are still that buggy, OS is unfamiliar to other people, but android keeps us updated on software/hardware upgrades, wp7? no sd slot, no dual core processors, then by 2016 they are on top? c'mon..

Android will be lucky to maintain 20% market share by 2016. I have no doubt whatsoever that WP will be number 1 within 5 years.

Its quite possible that WP or just win might surpass iOS, if Microsoft can keep relations with other companies than Nokia.
But I think the other category might grow, as we might very well be seing some purer linux OSes start to make it in to phones.
Android or whatever the Google smartphone OS will be called, might very well still be the top dog.
But I doubt Black berrie can keep thei share, if they dont start licensing, and come up with a great OS. RIM isnt big enough to carry their own OS, and market it.

last time i saw a WP, it was in an antique store. Also since they decided to bury the 6.5 and lower WM, people on EBay have been selling their Windows operated phones at crazy low prices. Unless this is another ploy by microsoft to combat the two giants Android and IOS, i am more inclined to believe that pigs will fly than this hogwash
