I think Samsung are regret for that, They didn't expect LG to announce 2GB RAM so now they are trying to make a counter attack.
It's exactly when HTC announced Sensation to have 1.2 GHZ dual then Samsung made their S2 to have 1.2 GHZ dual.

This is another thing that differentiates it from apple.
