Redmi 9 flaunts features of a mid-range phone while its price is capped at that of an entry-level smartphone. For a budget phone to be equipped with a mediatek gaming chipset is a great addition.

Alex 94, 14 Jun 2020Sd 665 is weaker than g80. Redmi 9 4/64 have the same price... moreWeaker in what way? Graphics, clock speed? Maybe but it is still, MediaTek... G90T is the good midrange SoC from them.. You can look at charging speed, between, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 (G85), and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s (SD720G).. Same charger, same battery in mAh, Note 9 from 0 to 100% goes in 2h 50min, and Note 9s, 2h 20min, so half hour less, why?
                Well, because of the chipset..
Like i said, Xiaomi Redmi 9 in 4/64GB is (now), about 125, or 130 euros, for week or two will be 120 euros.. (3/32GB is 120 now), and Note 9s is like you said about 180 euros (2 months ago was 160 lol), so, there is a difference, yes Note 9s is better (glass back, hole punc, smaller botton part, 48mp back camera, Qualcomm 8nm Snapdragon 720G, faster charger in the box, 23.5w vs 10w... Etc), but it's more expensive.. Same goes for Note 9s vs Note 9 Pro, you pay more you get more, even with (Redmi) Xiaomi..

But maybe that group doesn't play games I suppose to hard at least

Way too big. They already have the Note line which supposed to be the budget phablet line one but why they need to overlap the segment by releasing this? Please, being a big screen is a very old marketing phase now, since every smartphone now is at least 6" and have a long ratio. Compact phones are rarity now especially on the low end segment and even if there are some its specs aren't even that competitive. I wonder if they could release a 65mm wide phone with 1/1.7" main camera and the same SoC.

My video history? Nothing important. I don't use facebook so they don't know much about me. Also I use adblockers and anti trackers on the browser so no one can track my activity. In case of xiaomi, nothing can stop their data collection.

Then again, rhis one is 125 euros on aliexpresa (in 4/64, like base model of Note 9s), and i must say, back camera design is (for me), better in Redmi 9, than Redmi Note 9, 9s, or Note 9 Pro..
Only, that MtK SoC.. If is any good (in batterty life, graphics..), that will be enough for such a low pricetag. Also, back design, yes it's plastic, but in a aurora wave, so good grip, and even better, fingerprints, smudges, does bot stay on the back (still, ere is a TPU caee in the box included).
So, all in all, only MediaTek is the problem, will be waay better, something like last year SD665 for example.

The chips might be weak compared to today's mid-rangers, but the comparidon nreds to be with the entry-level chips of previous years. And, in that case, you will notice that they are faster and that they can handle 1080p panels. Of course, that might not be good news for budget gamers, since the entry-level GPUs need to process ~twice the amount of pixels in 1080p (compared to 720p), but, for older games and photos/videos, it should be good.

Too big, too similar with redmi note series (not like the old redmis that were small and compact). They should just erase the redmi lineup if they don't want to make small phones anymore.

Even entry level chips can easily drive FHD. I rather have FHD than a HD, at least i get a choice to lower graphic in games, but a HD screen can't give you FHD even if you want... Also with current huge display, HD and FHD is noticeable to average eyes, much more than QHD and FHD.
