Why would Qualcomm use TSMC to make the SoC this early ? The first phone with the SoC will come after 7 month ?
I knew the flagship 800 series SoC are manufactured in Q4 of the year and onward.

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2020Again? Adreno really needs a refresh. It's been comparative... moreAdreno is currently sitting on its laurel because there's no real competition with ARM's Mali GPU, it's not powerful enough to compete with Adreno. Things 'might' change though when AMD Radeon rDNA GPU architecture entered the mobile market with the new Samsung Exynos next year which are also rumored to use the new ARM X1 and A78 CPU like Qualcomm.

Apple designs CPUs. At which point the designs are taken by a fab, such as TSMC or Samsung Semiconductor for printing on silicon. Apple designs its CPUs and GPUs.
Speaking of which - Qualcomm does not manufacture its own CPUs or GPUs either. Neither does AMD, NVidia, and a host of other companies. They all use a fab for final production. Up until a few years ago, AMD also had its own fabs, but they spun them off into Global Foundries, and now Intel is the only remaining chip manufacturing company, which also owns its own Fabs.

Even to the 865 did well. Just not as large.
And you have to remember. Qualcomm changed their game of chasing numbers and went for quality and efficiency. That on to of the fact that not every single generation can be a break through.
Remember we live in reality here.

doubtful that this will have integrated modem. mmWave modem are still too big by Qualcomm standard even on 5nm. the X60 will be a discrete modem just like the X55 are. since Cortex-X1 core are huge, this add more reason why X60 will be discrete. integrating modem are no simple task, and could lower yield due to it's complexity. I still doubt that flagship Qualcomm SoC even for 2022 will integrate 5G modem just yet.

Predicted GeekBench 5 benchmarks for SD875.

                SINGLE CORE: Around 1400.
                MULTI-CORE: Around 4700..
                Antutu: 800k.

This, Apple A14 and Kirin 1020 seems exciting enough. We'll see what Samsung can do with its throttled Exynos chipset. 7nm Exynos 9825 can't even beat Apple A12 or SD855 (or even Kirin 980).

Again? Adreno really needs a refresh. It's been comparatively stagnant for the last 3 or so years.

*yawn. Just more $1k phones. Boring.

It's more interesting looking at the sub $300 market, where the competition is really fierce with OEMs trying to push as much as performance and premium features in for as low price as possible.

So does this means that there won't be Snapdragon 865+?

The current iphone model dropped 20% performance under extended high load due to throttling.
There must come a point of diminishing returns , as consumers are
already sooking about the cost of smart phones.

Samsung should step up their game fast with AMD and give some competition. Qualcomm's pricing policy based on sales is ridiculous.
